“A good choice - we liked it!”
Reviewed August 22, 2008

My wife and me stayed here in July 2008 for four nights. We chose this Hotel because it was one of the cheaper choices and it had pretty good feedback. And it also looked nice on pics.

All in all we were very happy. Let's start with the room. It had a good size...not that big though. But ok...
The bed was alright, not too great. But the room and the whole Hotel was very clean. There was a quite big and very cold fridge in the room and a comfy TV-Chair. The TV itself was small and very oldschool. But you're not coming to Key West to watch TV anyway...
The bathroom was quite small, funny painted but clean. The room had very big windows, so a very bright room (We stayed on the fourth floor).

The pool area looked nice. It was pretty much empty all the time. Maybe because they don't have any umrellas!
There were a few Cabanas you can stay in, if you need some shade. The pool was nice, but on the first day the water was filled very low, not too great that day.
We didn't really stay in the Pool Area anyway. Firstly because we didn't come for that anyway and secondly the pool Area didn't make us feel like laying around.

If you wanna enjoy the Beach, Smathers Beach is very close. But the time we went it was very smelly there....and quite brown water. The beach itself was clean with nice white sand. Just for getting some sun it was nice....but not to go swim in the Ocean.

The staff in the Hotel was very friendly. Check-In was fast. They have also nice people working at the Pool area and friendly drivers (from the Shuttle).
If you come by car like us, you can park your car very close to the Entrance, good if you have lots of luggage. If you're lucky, you might not get charged the usual 10$ parking fee (a day).

The hotel provides a free shuttle to Smathers Beach and to Downtown. The last one to go back to the Hotel leaves at 11.20pm. So be there on time, if not you'll have to take a cab.
This service was a very big plus!!

Altogether we were very happy with our choice. Just the Pool area wasn't really great, and swimming in the Ocean not really an option too. But we enjoyed Key West very much. If we come back here, we would probably stay here again.

I thought this hotel was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a shuttle that runs every hour on the hour to two stops on Key West. It was wonderful not to have to worry about driving and parking. The rooms could use some updating and were a bit smaller that I am use to, but I would not let that deter me from staying there again. Overall it was a lovely experience and I would recommend my friends and family stay there.

I stayed here while on my Honeymoon. The hotel property was above average. I loved the pool and bar area. One issue we had was that the hotel was a few miles from downtown/ Duval Street, so we had to take hotel transportation- the shuttle. The shuttle did not run late into the evening, so we weren't able to stay out late and enjoy the night scene much. (Could've taken a taxi- but the one taxi we did take ripped us off a bit!)

Our room was nice/average. Unfortunately there was construction going on right outside our window during the day. We did not ask to be moved because it wasn't a big deal, and I'm not one to fuss about such things.

Overall we liked this hotel. We really enjoyed Key West. The next time we go, we'll stay right in the downtown area, though.

My boyfriend and I went away for the first time together in 5 years this week. Having no clue what we were going to be doing we just wanted to get as far away from work as possible. Once at the Doubletree we knew we were at the right place. I am normally nervous about staying in hotels, but this hotel was very very clean. They were able to check us in early, which was especially helpful since we had been driving all night. Brent at the desk was able to book us on snorkling trip within 5 mins of talking with him and just telling him what we were interested in. Everyday the van drivers made sure we did not get lost and had some sort of direction. I also thought it was great planning when there was a lot of us going in and out of town they had several van drivers available to insure we all got to our destination and back to the hotel without having to wait. The bartenders at the pool bar were always friendly and chatty when right. I could go on and on about the staff. The housekeepers were even helping each other, laughing, and pleasant which is always nice to see. You can tell the staff loves working at this hotel. We have already booked our next trip.

  • Liked — How clean the rooms were
  • Disliked — room service- ordering late was probably the problem

My boyfriend and I just got back from 3 nights at the Doubletree, Key West and we loved it. It was clean, new, and everything you could want in a hotel. ALL staff from bartenders to the shuttle drivers were helpful and friendly. The shuttle to Duval St. comes every hour to drop you off and pick you up. This was a great extra the hotel provided. We selected the King size room with balcony and the room was a bit smaller then we would have liked. Otherwise it was a great stay and I recommend it to anyone vacationing in Key West.

We visited Key West with our two daughters, college age. We booked in January using our Hilton Honors points. When we checked in we were given a tiny room with 2 queen (?) size beds. We could not move around without bumping into each other. We are not complainers but my husband did go to the front desk to ask about our room. He was assured by the woman at the front desk we had been given an upgrade and that they were booked for the upcoming weekend. She then gave us a few passes for free drinks at the pool bar. It did get busier, but there were very many rooms with balconies, that never had a curtin open or anyone on them. I guess the fact that we had booked a room months in advance did not matter!

The hotel is nice and we did enjoy the pool. I can say that the hotel employees were also very nice. One of the gentleman at the pool kept bringing us water and was very kind!

The breakfast was OK. I do want to return to Key West, we had a wonderful time. I don't know if I would return to the Doubletree, the rooms are so tiny. I would not waste our Hilton Honors points to stay there!!
