First time in Key West and met Captain Paul outside of Pepe's. Booked a 6 hour fishing trip and had a great time. The boat is large enough for 6 people. We met 4 other people that day, all in groups of twos. The other people were friendly and easy going. Enjoyable day!! Captain Dave offers breakfast and lunch boxed specials which were very fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Captain Aaron and First Mate Stan had great personalities. They also were knowledgable and had a great sense of humor about Key West. We caught cobia, nurse sharks, small yellow tails and strawberry grouper.
Great crew would definitely recommend this trip well worth price for experience for the experienced or novice fisherman.

We were staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Marathon and the boat left from a dock just behind the hotel. Cost was a very reasonable $25 PP. If you're like me and am pretty much blind without glasses ask them for a mask with lenses built in. They had one very close to my prescription so I was able to see the sights. And what sights! Two hours - an hour each on two reef locations - was just about the right amount of snorkeling time. You're about two miles off short in about 15 - 20' of water teeming with fish. It was like swimming in an aquarium. The crew were very competent and helpful. I'd recommend them to anyone who wants to see some of the best of the Keys.

We had a great time with Capt Aaron and first mate Stan, One gorgeous day. The perfect boat with the best crew. Learned much about the reefs, gulf stream and the Cuban MIGS flying over head, HA, HA, it's a joke. The best fish of the day was a 43" African pompano. The fillets done by the crew were delicious. I highly recommend Paul and his crew, you can't go wrong. Chris Moore, Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Five of us spent a day with Aaron and Stan (the new part of the friends). Four of us had fished together before, but one of our party was a fishing "virgin". Stan and Aaron were amazing at keeping us on fish of some kind all day. We hooked up with bonita for bait within forty -five minutes of leaving the dock and went on to catch everything from a leopard eel (he was released) to fifty pound amberjack. We took home fish to eat for dinner and fish to smoke for the holiday season. We never had a moment to wonder what next, in fact we handed the rods to the crew just to have time for a Bloody Mary. We would fish with these guys again anytime, and oh yeah, we live in Key West so have lots of other options. Not that we needed them. Charlie

Captain Hook Fishing Charters is the real deal. Owner Paul and his crew made certain our first offshore fishing experience was a great one. The weather was sunny but abnormally cold and windy (50s) and the water was choppy...not conducive to a successful trip, but the crew knew precisely where to go and what to do (rig for deep fishing rather than trolling) to assure a great experience. We caught a couple of red snappers (ate them that evening and the next; delicious!) as well as several others, up to 42" and est. 75 lb. (all except the red snappers were catch and release). As other reviewers have said, the total focus is on assuring a great experience for those on board for the day, and as first-timers we appreciated the coaching, which was helpful and enhanced the experience. Definitely a great experience whether as newbies to the sport or seasoned veterans. Customer-focused beginning to end. Well worth recommending!
