Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Upon arriving at the bike shop, you'll be fitted with your bicycle and begin your approximately three-hour pedal through town. You will see the highlights of Key West, of which there are many. Pass Simonton Street Beach, the Green Parrot Bar, Key West Cemetery, Higgs Beach and the Southernmost Point of the United States, just 90 miles north of Cuba. Of particular note is the Customs House, which presides over historic Mallory Square. Dating to 1891, the faithfully restored, four-story architectural gem was originally home to the island's customs office, postal service and district courts. "Old 91" is today a national landmark and headquarters of the Key West Art & Historical Society. Another slice of local history unfolds as you approach the Presidential Gates of the Harry S. Truman Little White House. Built in 1890 as the first officer's quarters on the submarine base naval station, the abode served as Harry S. Truman's base of presidential operations during his 11 visits to Key West. Of course, Key West also is known as the home of Ernest Hemingway. During your bike ride, you will see the residence located at 907 Whitehead Street, across from the Key West lighthouse, where the famed writer lived from 1931 to 1939. One of Hemingway's legendary haunts was Sloppy Joe's Bar. Founded in 1933, the bar was located on Greene Street, just off Duval Street, during Hemingway's day. The bar has since moved to its current location on Duval Street, taking with it its storied connections to Hemingway, who suggested the name for the establishment. Other landmarks on today's roster include Dog Beach, Flagler Train Depot, Jimmy Buffet's first house, and Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, the Duval Street watering hole that embodies the laid-back lyrics of the beloved singer/songwriter. After returning to the bike shop you will finish with a slice of Key Lime pie, a refreshing must-taste here in Key West.

“Great tour of Key West with a little exercise to boot!”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

A great way to see Key West, all flat for easy pedalling. Christopher gives a great tour, very knowledgable about the city, lots of fun facts. We saw many interesting sites, the pace was easy and we had chocolate covered key lime pie at the end. One of our favorite excursions from our Disney cruise.

Thanks for taking our tour, and thank you for the great review! I always like the Disney groups because there are always kids too and I love teaching them about the wonderful history of our little island. Come back and spend a few days with us next time!

“Best way to see Key West”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

We had a great tour of Key West and got an excellent feel for the local culture and history. Christopher was engaging and knowledgeable. We basically had a private tour for our group of 5 ( wouldn't want to go with too many more!). Our only suggestion would be to have a little less talking (more succinct stories/history), more riding? Two hours would have been a good tour length.

Thanks so much for taking the time to review us. I had a great time taking you and your friends around Key West. I agree with you that sometimes my passion for the island and it's history makes me a little long winded. I try to tailor my trips to what each group wants, answering whatever questions that may come up along the ride. I hope that you at least made it to the top of the La Concha Hotel for the sunset!

“Excellent Bike Tour”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

Key Lime Bike Tours provided us with a memorable, educational, and most importantly fun filled half-day biking around Key West. Traveling by bike allowed us to take in all the sights of this this historically fascinating and modern day hip little island. All our expectations of this bike tour were thoroughly surpassed as we learned all about Jimmy Buffet and his desire to remain a beach bum, Ernest Hemmingway’s brick thievery, the shipwrecks encouraged by the locals, and much much more from our awesome and knowledgeable tour guide Steph! The flat biking is rather easy and of course the Key Lime treats at the end of the tour are out of this world. I highly recommend this tour, you won’t be disappointed!

“ride around key west”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

Key Lime Bike tours was great. Our guide Steph was great - funny, knowledgeable, and he offered great suggestions of things to do (like the live music at the Green Parrot!) during our stay.. It was a lot of fun and we saw lots of cool stuff and learned a lot about the history and local culture. As well as samples from the Key Lime pie shop. Well worth it.
