Owner description: As the only air-service, we are by far the most exciting and convenient way to reach the Dry Tortugas, one of North America's most inaccessible National Parks. The Park lies in the blue-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico, 70 miles due west of Key West, FL. Low altitude sightseeing flight, great snorkeling, pristine beaches, tour Fort Jefferson & bird watching. Morning, Afternoon & full day tours.

The other reviews already capture the "why you should splurge" part. My review is to sincerely thank Key West Seaplanes for being a truly enjoyable place to do business. Considering they are the only seaplane service to Dry Tortugas, I expected that they would be less than perfect since they have no competition. WRONG. Super pleasant, super well organized and efficient. They said show up at 730am to leave at 8am. We showed up, checkin for 2 planes worth of people took less than 5 minutes and they said, "we will leave early if everyone is here so you get the most time" and they did. Airplanes were immaculate inside and out and you didn't feel like they are sick of tourists and tired of explaining the same stuff over and over. They include the copilot seat as one of the seats for purchase so if you want your kid to get it....speak up! Both pilots were super cuties too (I flew with Gary). You are crazy to take the ferry instead of this. We took the 8am, passed the ferry overhead, had plenty of time to see the fort (and only about 15 people to share it with), snorkel and picnic, return flight back as ferry arrived, returned to our hotel, ate lunch, sat on the beach, napped, showered and walked all the way down Duval before the Ferry even returned to dock. Need I say more?

The plane ride was fast and provided amazing views of the ocean. It was also great to be at Fort Jefferson early before the ferry crowds arrived. The pilot was a pro and gave as smooth a ride as possible while giving us tips on where to look and what to see. The half-day trip gave us 2.5 hours at the Fort. The time flew by so fast that we may consider the full day trip in the future.

Great flight, great service, highly recommended.

After A fantastic flight spotting famous wrecks, islands and the sea life in the turquoise waters, chose to snorkel on the walls of Fort Jefferson, observe birds or learn the history of this unique island. The best splurge in Key West!

We took the trip on Jan 26, 2014. It was great and most of the great things are already being said in other reviews. I'll only add a couple. The company is absolutely correct when they encourage the first or the last trip. We took the early one. Only nine folks on the plane. Consequently, only nine folks (other than staff) on the island and at the Fort. When trying to vist a tourist attraction, fewer people is better than more 100% of the time. Another plane arrived after ours so the max was 18 people and was staggered. The boat arrived as we were nearing the end of our vist. Glad we were prepaing to leave.

There was an empty seat (shotgun) and the pilot offered it anyone who wanted it. I declined on the way out but told him I wanted to reserve it on the way back. What a difference in the view! If you make this trip and that cockpit seat is available and offered, grab it.

This was the most fun I have had in years. Flying 400 feet above the water, seeing turtles, dolphins, sharks, rays etc. My wife doesn't like small airplanes but flight was so smooth she loved it too. We flew on the 8 am departure and arrived on the Dry tortugas before the ferrys arrived. We had the park and the snorkeling to ourselves.
