Owner description: As the only air-service, we are by far the most exciting and convenient way to reach the Dry Tortugas, one of North America's most inaccessible National Parks. The Park lies in the blue-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico, 70 miles due west of Key West, FL. Low altitude sightseeing flight, great snorkeling, pristine beaches, tour Fort Jefferson & bird watching. Morning, Afternoon & full day tours.

This was pricey, but worth every penny.. Many passage ways in the fort to explore and lots of great photo opportunities. They supply a cooler and two drinks per person. Book early and note that the last trip of the day at 2 pm is not bad at all because the ferry leaves as you arrive. Simply an excellent adventure snorkeling is not the best but something to do if you want to cool off afterwards.

If you can afford it ($540 for 2 people), this is a must-do! Everyone is given a small cooler with ice and 2 bottles of water. You are free to bring a lunch to add to the cooler if you wish. There is seating for only 10 people on the plane, so be sure to make your reservations early! They do not fly during high winds or severe weather, so there is a chance your flight may be postponed, so book early in your trip so in the event your flight must be postponed, there is time left in your vacation to reschedule. Wear a swimsuit with a cover-up for the flight. Snorkeling equipment is included in the price. We were there the 2nd week of April and the water was very, very cool (uncomfortable for me and some others, but a few braved the chilly water). That was a surprise because we assumed the water would be warmer this far south. Bring waterproof sunscreen (and a t-shirt to wear to avoid blistering your back) if snorkeling or regular suncreen for sunbathing. If you are unable to climb or descend a ladder with about 6 rungs to get into and out of the plane, this is not for you.

On the flight over and back, each person had headphones with which to listen to the pilot's commentary on the sights below, interspersed with music (primarily Jimmy Buffett tunes). Loved landing on the island while Jimmy Buffett's "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes" was playing! The water is the most gorgeous aquamarine and minty green imaginable!

The flight is definitely the highlight. The fort is okay, but its basically a gazillion bricks forming a fort. Not too exciting. The snorkeling wasn't the best - I found the water too cold to participate, and husband who did snorkel said he didn't see much. He had an underwater camera and only took 2 photos. The flight was the best part and was the highlight of our Key West vacation!

This is must. If you are in Key West, you must take the trip out to the Dry Tortugas via a sea plane. Forget the cost, just go. The whole trip went off perfectly. I went with my wife and 7 year old daughter. Evan was the pilot and not only was he superb with his aviation skills, but also an excellent guide. The trip to the Tortugas was amazing. Period. You see various wrecks, islands and blue water forever. The landing was hoot. There's nothing like landing on the water and taxiing up to an island. The fort was just as fun. Be sure to have Evan take you on a tour as there are a lot of interesting facts and history. After the tour, we did some snorkeling off the East wall. Good novice diving for all ages. Then it was time for the return back. Within seconds we out of the chop and on our way back to the Key West. What a great trip. Be sure to tip the pilot as he plainly deserves it. FYI, I liked the morning trip as we missed all of the masses.

We flew out to the Dry Tortugas, the 40 minute flight, flying low over the sea, fully narrated throughout, with the odd dash of music which reminds you how much this is a once in a lifetime experience. We saw sharks and plenty of Giant Turtles. Both the staff at the office and the pilot were all very accommodating and extremely professional and friendly. They even have someone on the island to give you a quick tour around, which won't take up much of your time but is well worth it if you want to know the facts about the place. If you going to the Tortugas, take the plane, it may cost more than the ferry but you won't experience anything like this. TIP: Get the 2pm flight, by the time you arrive at the Tortugas the ferry is just leaving and you are 1 of 10/15 people on the island. It's a great feeling!! And of course you get to fly back just before sunset.

We took the 8:00 AM flight out to Dry Tortugas with Evan as our pilot and I have to say if there is one thing you should do in Key West is take this very informational and fun flight to see the fort. Evan was very knowledgeable about shipwrecks and history of all the islands we passed. He also gave time frames for when we should see certain sites so that we could be prepared to take our photos and not miss anything. I was even able to sit in the copilots seat! When you arrive first thing in the morning it is like you have the whole island to yourself before the big boat arrives. The ride out and back were simply amazing. Everyone we dealt with for flight was very professional and freindly. It is a bit pricey, But it is definitely worth it.
