We spent a week in Islamorada looking for fish. Had a boat rented, followed the birds, the weed line and rips -got nothing. Our last few days lead us to Key West and the boat docks. We ended up on a six hour trip. Our first drop of lines provided 2 hookups of Mahi! We had some slow times but between 4 of us we did end up with 18 keeper mahi, lost 3 at the boat, some Bonita and a barracuda. Went out again the next day, fishing was really slow and we had to repeated dodge big rain storms. Ended up with 16 mahi, 2 lost at the boat, Bonita and a cero mackeral. Our friends went out the same time but on a different charter, they only caught 3 mahi and a shark. Jimmy knows his fishing!
This was the cleanest boat I've ever been on. The mate was great too. Both are born and raised in Key West - not a northern capt settled in the keys.
I would highly recommend going out with Jimmy, the fishing was really slow but he still managed to find us some fish?
The marina has free parking - another thing that is hard to find in Key West
