My husband and I stayed here as a last minute reservation and we couldn't have been happier. The accommodations were wonderful with a king sized bed, beautiful bathroom and a private patio with a two person jet tub. The ladies who run the house were so nice and help to point out places to visit. The pools heater was broken but the weather was warm and it was refreshing, besides, the hot tub was hot! The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast consisted of fruit, coffee, breads and muffins. A storm rolled through that night with heavy rain but it sounded so relaxing on the roof. You would never no that this relaxing place was right on Duval street! It's in the perfect location, half way between the sunset pier and the southernmost point. It's also quite at night since its not too close to the bars. Would definitely come again!

This romantic paradise exceeded my expectations and I am a fussy traveler. There are no details overlooked here. They maximized the limited space offered in Key West and created a hidden oasis. It was great to be able to head our either way on Duval St. and not have to go too far to have fun. Everything was immaculately clean, tropical foliage created an isolated paradise in the courtyard, breakfast was oustanding. The service was efficient, personal, helpful but never intrusive. We stayed in the Pineapple Hideaway Garden Cottage. It has a private entrance, completely enclosed back porch with chairs and hottub which we used everyday. The bed was incredibly comfortable, air conditioning, fridge, and nice tiled rainshower. It was dreamy and romantic. Can't wait to go back.

Tropical Inn lives up to its website description. It is a quiet haven nestled halfway between Mallory Square & Southern Most Point--you can walk everywhere. Staff is friendly & helpful, answered questions & offered suggestions. Loved the palm-shaded pool--there is some sun for those who want it. We stayed in Conch Courtyard & enjoyed the private fenced outdoor sitting area. The website breakfast description is accurate--we found it satisfying & delicious. As for mosquitoes, the Inn provides a communal basket of repellant (& sunscreen)! We highly recommend it & plan to return.

We were delighted to spend 6 nights recently at the Tropical Inn. Brandi helped us the most, recommending restaurants (Santiago's Bodega and Blue Heaven were favorites) and fun activities. We took the seaplane to the Dry Tortugas, handled a batfish (among other interesting creatures) on our kayaking eco-tour, and snorkeled off the beach at Fort Zachary State Park. No matter what the morning's activity, afternoons were spent reading by the pool in the sheltered, quiet courtyard. We loved the location on Duval St, as we could walk to restaurants, and so many tours and other activities. We stayed in 2 different rooms, and preferred the Coconut Cabana, in the back, close to the courtyard.

Room Tip: The rooms differ in size and amenities - ask questions about bathrooms, closet space - we discovered...

First, in response to a prior review, I'm not sure why it's unusual to get the occasional mosquito inside. You see it, you kill it, end of story. During our stay the mosquitos did bite while in the courtyard, but the inn has no control over the outdoors and they do provide an entire basket full of bug spray (along with sunscreen and remedies for sunburn) for anyone to use. That being said, we had a fabulous stay at the Tropical Inn. The location is fantastic, just far enough away from the craziness of Duval Street, but close enough to it that it's not a long walk to get anywhere. We stayed in the Poinciana Patio room, which was small, but well-appointed and adorable. The French doors out to the gardens made the room feel much bigger and gave a great view to the almost-always-empty patio and pool area. The breakfast was small, but well-appointed with hard boiled eggs, cheese, meats, breads, fruit, juices, coffee, and pastries. This was definitely on par with other inns in Key West, especially since Key West has a law that if there isn't a commercial kitchen on premises, hot food cannot be served. There is also an "honor bar" in the main hallway that sells water, beer, wine, soda, and chips, along with complimentary coffee and cocoa from a Keurig brewer. The staff was amazing and hardworking. Brandi and Shelby were friendly and happy to help us with great restaurant and bar recommendations, as well as renting bikes that the inn keeps onsite. All-in-all, we wouldn't think twice about staying at the Tropical Inn on our next trip to Key West.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep in, breakfast preparation may bother you outside of the Poinciana Patio room...

They screwed up our Valentine's Day weekend reservations, seemed unconcerned, totally unapologetic, blamed it on me (as if I didn't know what days I wanted to travel), and the mosquitos (indoors) were terrible. The breakfasts were mediocre (hard boiled eggs and salami?) excepting one nice quiche. Tiny rooms, noisy window unit AC. Keep looking.

We regret that this guest was confused about his check-out date but regard attempting to shift blame through a transparent Tripadvisor review as failure to accept personal responsibility. All guests are sent an email confirmation of the exact dates of their stay when they reserve. The length of stay, accommodation reserved, and check-out date are verbally confirmed and a hard copy reiteration are provided the guest at check-in, at which time he/she acknowledges accuracy by their signature.

On the rate occasion that such unfortunate events as this occur, we are always compassionate and try to remedy the situation to our best abilities. Our offer of assistance was, in this case, rejected.

The fault-finding complaints this guest now cites -- none mentioned during his stay -- on the convenient platform Tripadvisor provides without a filter for accuracy are too obviously motivated to merit addressing. Enough said.

Just returned from a fabulous long weekend in Key West spent at the Teopical Inn. Five star service, accommodation and greeting from the word go! Can't recommend highly enough as a real treat right in the heart of Duval Street.
