“An excellent place to stay, a gem in Key West.”
Reviewed August 27, 2010

My partner and I have been going to the Frances Street Bottle Inn for five straight years now. The first time, her mother booked us a room as a surprise gift. We liked it so much, we've been going back ever since. I love it because it's far enough removed from the noise and constant commotion of Duval that you can take a break if you need it. It's also close enough that you can walk, bike or rent a moped and get anywhere in the old town area in short order.
I also love it for the innkeeper, Dennis. He is by far the most accommodating, gracious host you could hope for. He's always got a great suggestion for a tried and true restaurant, or an up-and-coming one. He also knows many of the business owners on the island and can tell you about good deals and outings to take.
As a Florida resident, I avoid all the 'traps' as much as possible. This place is authentic - quiet and romantic - a great retreat.

My husband and I arrived in Key West with no place to stay. We looked on Tripadvisor for recommendations and read all the glowing reviews. We called the inn and spoke to Mark. He had already left for the day but returned to accommodate us.

The inn is lovely with wrap around porch on both floors. Our room was tiny, but adequate for our one night stay. We just needed a place to shower and lay our heads. Our room was on the 1st floor with a private door from the outside, so we didn't have to walk through the house to reach our room. We like to sleep in a cold room and the wall a/c worked well. The bed was comfy but it did squeak a bit. There were only two pillows though. Free wi-fi was fast and reliable. The only caveat about this particular room is that it is right next to the breakfast room. If you are light sleepers or like to sleep in, this might be a small inconvenience.

There are snacks and drinks available in the evening. Breakfast is a nice extended continental and includes a couple of hot selections.

We had a very short but very pleasant stay. I would not hesitate in staying here again in the future and will recommend it to others.

Thanks Mark & the Frances Street Bottle Inn for your hospitality!

We visit Key West frequently, and have stayed in several different Inns. This one is by far the best! The location in Old Town is within easy walking distance of the waterfront area as well as Duval St. and many great restaurants. The Bottle Inn rents bikes, or you can bring your own as we did. Biking is a great way to see Key West, and since parking is at a premium, and free parking even more so, bikes are a great alternative. There are a few free parking spots on the street aroung this inn, but no gauranteed parking. There is a city parking garage ($8/day) within a few blocks, but that isn't too convenient when you are carrying luggage! This parking situation is common for Key West, and in no way a drawback to this Inn. We were lucky and were able to find a great spot, so we only moved our car once during the 3 day trip, and otherwise walked or bicycled. Our room was on the lower level, and although smallish with a queen sized bed, it was very nice! The room did not smell musty, as some rooms we've stayed at in Key West have. The furniture was nice, and the bathroom was roomy with a tub/shower combo. We knew the room was smaller, and did not mind as we didn't plan to spend much time hanging out there. Both the upper and lower floors have wrap around porches with lots of comfy rattan furniture. The breakfast was excellent! It included a yummy breakfast casserole, hashbrowns, a nice selection of breads and bagels, cereal, fruit plate, pastries and coffee/juice. There is also a happy hour each afternoon with wine, beer and snacks available. The lack of pool did not bother us, as we're too busy doing other things! We were glad to know this Inn allows pets. In the future, we may bring our dog with us and stay there. The Bottle Inn is on a quiet corner, which we really appreciated. We would definitely go back to this Inn. The only thing I can think of that I was slightly dissatisfied with is that the porch lights are left on all night, and the blinds in our room did not keep the light out very well. I like sleeping in a dark room, so this bothered me a little. Still, I loved this inn and would not hesitate to go back, or to recommend it highly!

We loved it. First, Dennis was awesome. He was very attentive, if you needed anything, and knew so much about the area, not to mention he is a great cook. We arrived and found a wonderful BB within walking distance to Duval Street. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The air conditioner was great, with flat screen tv and lots and lots of hot water. The bed was comfortable and room was bright and clean and perfect. I would have to say they thought of everything here. Sunscreen if you forgot yours, snacks out all day, coffee with flavored creamers and instant coffee for those who drink coffee all the time (my husband) a refrigerator with juice, soda, beer etc...and just help yourself.
Dennis showed us the ice machine, beach towels, and extra fridge if you needed it, you can rent bikes right there and they also offer discount tickets for things to do in the area. The continental breakfast was more than your average contintinal breakfast, not to mention Dennis added a hot egg dish served daily with an additional hot side dish. (Dennis might even tell you the recipe) :-)
What more do you need to know, it was very reasonable and an all possitive experience. We wont ever think about staying any where else. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Dante's!

The Bottle Inn, and overseer, Dennis, were unbelievably wonderful! The location was very near Duval Street - a lovely walk past beautiful homes or a quick bike ride to the beach. Bikes were available onsite for rental. The breakfasts were exceptional, the rooms very clean and tastefully decorated, the porch was delightful! The ambiance was beachy and peaceful. Even though we were in Key West for our son's destination wedding, there was no stress. Dennis went above and beyond to make sure every detail was taken care of, from recommending local restaurants to making sure that the wedding party ladies had a private manicure/pedicure session right at the Bottle Inn on the day of the wedding (a Sunday!) Our other son was ill and had great difficulty getting to Key West. We were racing the clock to see if we could get him from the airport to the marina in time for a Sunset Cruise the evening before the wedding. Dennis offered to have a friend pick him up at the airport and rush him to the boat, going back to pick up his luggage afterwards. He called to hold the boat for an additional five minutes. He even suggested that a friend could ferry Ben to the cruise boat if necessary - unbelievable!! We would recommend this Inn highly and would never stay anywhere else on the island. Superb is an understatement!
