“What a truly delightful experience!”
Reviewed January 30, 2014

We have loved Key West since our first visit 20 years ago. We had stayed in the chain hotels until this trip. We wanted to bring MaiTai, our small Brussels Griffon, along this time. Because the Curry Mansion Inn allowed small pets, we thought we'd give it a try. From the day we arrived, we just knew we had made a great choice for accomodations. Our room was in the James House, across the street from the mansion and it was perfect. The first-floor room was spacious with a comfortable king-size bed and private bath. Our own private balcony/patio was the icing on the cake. From check-in till check-out, innkeeper Edith Amsterdam and her superb staff made us (and especially MaiTai) feel so welcomed. The morning breakfasts over by the pool offered made-to-order omelets, as well as fruit and cereal choices. The evening cocktail hours were the perfect way to wind down after walks or runs around the island. We were able to meet many of the other guests during those times and it added to our enjoyment. The renovated Simonton Street Beach was only a few short blocks away and it, too, was dog-friendly. The inn's location is unbeatable; just a half-block off Duval Street in Old Town. We flew directly into Key West and took a cab over. We walked or biked everywhere and never missed not having a car. The choices for bringing in the new year were so fun. We had celebrated the occasion at Sloppy Joe's and Bourbon Street Pub before, so we (MaiTai, too) enjoyed the scene at Schooner Wharf Bar, forever one of our favorite Key West establishments. Our nine-day vacation ranks among our favorite ever anywhere. The selection of Amsterdam's Curry Mansion Inn for our lodging during this trip was a major factor in that.

Room Tip: The choice of a room in the James House across the street offered quieter accomodations, along with...

Beautiful mansion. Risky if you're not extremely agile. Lots of steps.I have never stayed at a B&B without meeting the proprietor and frequently seeing them conversing w/ guests on the grounds. We actually never knew who was the proprietor during our stay! Our room was second floor w/ a patio overlooking the breakfast area and the airconditioner. Nice to have a refrigerator but it was extremely loud. Had to locate the jacuzzi by hunting and finally found it in a building across the street. No available help w/ luggage up very steep steps w/ no elevator. Altho the wine & liquor was plentiful during cocktail hour, the snacks were far from exceptionsal and a bit stale. Same breakfast and cocktail hour treats each day. Blind wouldn't release and had to make an after hours call. Attendant never spoke one word to us and gave us a "smerky" look as he left, We expected so much more for the extremely high rates. VERY disappointed. Although the location is great, we will not stay here again.

Room Tip: Beautiful mansion. Risky if you're not extremely agile. Lots of steps.I have never stayed at a...

My wife and I traveled down just to run in the half marathon and had a wonderful time in the Mansion. Breakfast was superb as was the location. The rooms are quaint but roomy enough. The check in and departure was a breeze. We loved the balcony and the privacy we experienced.

Room Tip: We had a main house room in the front with the balcony which was quiet and peaceful.

Our first time to stay at a Bed & Breakfast. The breakfast by the pool with fresh made to order omelettes, was so nice. The two hour cocktail hour with premium liquors, beer, wine, mixers and hors d'oeuvres and live piano music was a nice extra value. Make sure you know in advance where you are staying, We stayed in a room by the pool, top of stairs on the left. If you are a light sleeper, the noise of getting the breakfast going will wake you up. That I could get past. The thing I couldn't get past was the very loud music that plays at the bars/restaurants outside of the windows. Our last night there (Thursday night) was terrible. Neither of us slept. The music continued past 3:00 am. I finally found a pair of earplugs to drown most of it out. I would stay again because the staff was so nice and the place was great, I will just book in a different area. I hear across the street is best and very quiet. This place is walking distance to everywhere we wanted to went. Parked the car and never got back in it until we left Key West.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the rooms by the pool and back up to the bars on Duval Street, especially if you a...

Our first visit to Key West and our first time to stay at a Bed & Breakfast. We enjoyed the city and the inn tremendously! Loved the breakfast by the pool with fresh made to order omelettes. Very nice 2 hour cocktail hour with premium liquors, beer, wine, mixers and hors d'oeuvres with live piano music around the pool. We stayed across the street at the James House. Right off Duval Street, walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go. Will definitely stay here again!

I am not a B&B person but I enjoyed this place.

I would recommend staying in the James house across the street if you need space - larger rooms. Free breakfast + happy hours [snacks + adult beverages] make the price of these rooms a great value.

Very close to the action of Duval Street [about a 9 iron away] but still able to get some sleep.

We found the Curry Mansion on the web and loved our 3 night stay. Quite, yet only half a block off Duval St. Fresh friut and eggs for breakfast served poolside. Happy hour with Piano music at 5 PM. The Mansion is amazing with large covered porches perfect for enjoying a relaxing coffee or cocktail. The staff was friendly and always happy to help. I definitely will be staying here on the next Key West Trip.

Room Tip: Forget the car, you dont need it. Walking distance to everything or bikes are available across the...
