We've stayed at over 20 B & Bs around the country, and this was a pretty good one. Beautiful Victorian with lovely woodwork, and a widow's walk that you can climb up to enjoy a fantastic view of the area. The current owner saved this gracious home, and its restored architecture is just gorgeous. Unbelievable evening reception with great snacks and open bar for drinkers. The historic mansion is very interesting and offers tours during the daytime due to its historical status as home to the first millionaire in Key West. There are only 4 guest rooms in the actual mansion, with other rooms adjacent to the mansion as well as across the street. There is a small pool at the main property, and a hot tub at the building across the street. The location is just around the corner from busy Duval Street, with lots of shops and restaurants. We were in the building across the street with a comfortable king bed with a huge shower. My only complaints were the flat, old pillows, as well as light from coming through the blinds from the front porch as well as noise from the nearby bar across the street. One of the best B & B breakfasts we've ever had, omelets made to order, lots of other goodies, and the inn owner's friendly daughter was on hand to chat with and a great source of info.

Room Tip: We didn't see any other rooms, so no tips to offer.

This was our first visit to Key West and sure liked the location of the Curry Inn. Just a block from Duval St., within walking distance of most of the attractions, restaurants and shops. Very friendly staff, great breakfast, enjoyable open bar and snacks in the late afternoon(nice break from all the action before having dinner).

Room Tip: Inquire if the room you are staying in is one the second floor; you will have to carry your bags to...

We arrived on Super Bowl Sunday after a 400 mile drive from Orlando and it was pouring down. We had taken a chance on finding somewhere and picked up a leaflet on the Curry Mansion in a set information centre. I called ahead and they said there was availability in a standard room. I asked about a suite and they said there was one available - nice to know they weren't trying to up-sell us. We were immediately welcomed to cocktail hour (extended especially for the big game) and were shown the master suite that I'd asked about by phone earlier.

You walk inside and you're in a time warp! For a history buff, this is the place to be, in fact they offer house tours during the day to non-residents, as it's a Key West icon. The master suite where we stayed was the epitome of that history and a delightful, large room with a lovely 4 poster canopied bed. We couldn't have picked a better spot either, it's 2 minutes off Duval Street, with its bars and fun but even though we did get some noise, it was ideal. It's certainly worth a trip up the stairs onto the widow's walk to get one of the best panoramas of historic downtown Key West too.

Slightly odd to have 2 bathrooms and some of the fittings were quite old fashioned (and you have to accept a bit of ancient dust!) but it was made up for by the charm and history. The bed was comfortable and large. It's obvious that the place was probably the biggest and best in Key West in its day but had fallen on harder times (some termite damage in the woodwork etc). I think the current owners were doing their best to rescue the old lady and it was truly charming. The whole team were friendly and accommodating - and "Queen" Edith was a real character. In fact we enjoyed it so much we extended our stay.

We didn't use the pool but could have, it looked nice. The small balcony overlooking the courtyard and the overhanging tamarind tree was perfect for an evening cocktail but the hotel has their own cocktail and hors d'oeuvres party every evening too. As it had been wet, we had drinks on the front porch in the warm evenings and watched the tour buses drive by, looking back at us. Breakfast was also a nice addition, included in the room rate.

One issue was the noise from the waste trucks early in the morning but I guess that's the same anywhere in the historic centre. We are usually up early (a hangover from being on UK time zone) so was not a huge deal but why do local authorities in tourist towns do that? Key West is well known as a party town and late nights are a big part of it, so why so early?

That's a small price to pay. Key West was a very pleasant surprise to us - we'd heard that it was very tacky but although there's probably 100 yards of "fun" places (avoid Sloppy Joe's), it's surprisingly historic, mixed with a nice bohemian and arty vibe and in the old town it's easy to get away from the "happy hour" brigade. Everything you want to see was walkable from the Curry Mansion, so it made a perfect base for a 3 day break. Key West and the Curry Mansion are definitely now on our "go back one day" list. We won't leave it too long, either.

This is an interesting place to stay in Key West. I'm sure there are other inns and hotels with more stylish decor and modern amenities; however, the location can't be beat if you want to be close to Duval Street. The Inn is literally right around the corner from all the action on Duval, yet it was quiet and peaceful. The exterior of the inn is gorgeous, and the mansion is certainly interesting. I was a little disappointed in our room located in an annex by the pool; it had a very "floral granny" look to it rather than a Key West, you're almost in the tropics vibe. I had requested a room with two beds, but the mattress on the trundle bed was so soft, we couldn't use it. The room was spacious, though, and the large shower and refrigerator were much appreciated. For the prices charged, the inn really needs to upgrade to flat screen televisions.

What we really enjoyed were the breakfast and cocktail party by the pool. Staff set up an open bar and guests just poured whatever they wanted and however much they wanted, while a very entertaining piano player provided music. The cocktail party also included a generous buffet of chips, dip, salsa, vegetables and other appetizers. Breakfast was quite good, with omelets or eggs made to order, bagels, fruit, cereal, bacon, sausage, hash browns and plenty of juice and coffee. The inn attracts a very interesting mix of people, and we enjoyed chatting with other guests at the tables lined up by the pool. The Curry Mansion Inn is a very relaxing, historic place to stay; with a few updates it would be just about perfect.

Recommended to stay by local Key West Info centre. Friendly staff, exceptional location only 20ft from party central on Duval St. Great value, included full b/fast, parking, evening open bar & nibbles. Washer & dryer. Small but great pool. Surprisingly quiet for it's location. Room was very presentable & clean with huge shower. Could update the TV even though we didn't watch it, but WiFi was handy. We would highly recommend this property for value, location & atmosphere.

Staying in Key West, our family had been excited to stay at the Curry Mansion, as it had seemed to have a lot of character, and a great atmosphere. Upon arrival we were greeted in a very welcoming way...and the rooms reminded me of those at the Haunted Mansion in Disney World. Exploring the Mansion, and the Widows Walk upstairs was breathtaking...above anything, make sure to tour the Inn. However, after coming home at around 10:30...my sister and I were trying to fall asleep, and between the Air Conditioner turning off and on noisily every half hour, the obnoxious bright light blinding us and preventing any chance of sleep, and the ridiculous drunk couple next to us arguing at 2:30 in the morning...neither of us got any sleep! Walls are paper thin, and the light was horrific. We tried to tie towels to the top of the windows to block out the light, but it still came through. The couple next to us came home drunk, and we had to listen to them arguing for about an hour about the girl dancing with another man at the bar. As entertaining as hearing them screaming at each other was, sleep was out of the question. Sleep in the Main House, simply tour it, or don't stay.

Room Tip: Stay away from the outside rooms. Stay in the main house..definitely.

We always welcome comments from our guests, so that we may learn from their experience. We work really hard to ensure a great experience for everyone that chooses to stay with us. We are sorry to hear of these guests' poor sleep quality and have taken steps to control the ambient light in that area, but it is difficult since there are stairways and the pool area which means we must have adequate lighting for liability issues. We have changed out the porch lights with a lower wattage and changed some of the flood lights to colored bulbs which is pretty and effective.
I see by the date that these sisters were here over New Year's Eve, which is the second busiest holiday here in Key West, which also is the noisiest and perhaps the most boistererous! Sixteen of our 28 rooms are in the guestwing where it sounds like they stayed and it is the preferred building by our many, many return guests. You can read many reviews that mention staying in the "annex" or guestwing by the pool area and their favorite rooms located there. We have never had anyone complain of "thin walls" before. The couple that were fighting were probably out by the pool area and if only the sisters had called our night time security the situation would have been quickly handled.
We're glad that they found some positives about their stay with us and think that a second stay would win them over completely!

We have spent 2 nights at the curry mansion and found it very good: great location, nice staff, excellent breakfast (with egg station and home made cake) and the happy hour concept is very original. It is sometimes noisy, but what would you expect when you are in the middle of the action? Very, very good.
