Step back in time and see what inspired Ernest in his book writing mind. Visit with the cats and read about his colorful life.

Thank you for your great review! I am sure you know that Hemingway spent most of his boyhood summers at Waloon Lak,e Michigan, you might want to visit that Hemingway inspired area too if you are looking for something to see in your home state.

I'd rank it average minus. Place was crowded with tourists (not their fault) but tours run every 10-15 minutes, so it felt very rushed. DidN't get time to linger in any room. Guide says you can go back and look at your leisure, but no. The next group of folks filled the smallish rooms and the new guide was blaring away. Need better scheduling or limit numbers in each group. Also Please remove the donated paintings of house and grounds and Papa. Very amateurish and not period. Speaking of authenticity, guide noted correctly that Hem did much writing standing up because of WWI injury. Peaked into writing studio. What was there? A regular table with typewriter and chair! This place needs a curator to sort things out. For instance, why were tax records in same case as a fishing rod and WWI medals and helmet? Despite all, still worth the 13 bucks.

Nice visit to the Hemingway home. It's neat to see how the man lived, and to imagine what it must have been like during his time there. We got there early (before 9:30) and toured with a small group. Beautiful home, friendly cats.

Thank you for your review. The early morning hours are propably the best time to tour the home, it's quiet, fewer guests and the cats are quite active in the morning.
