Having only a few hours in Key West choosing what to do is important. We stopped at the little White House first to see if we could get in. We made a tour right away and had a very knowledgeable and congenial guide. Very informative! Great start to a wonderful visit in Key West.

“Little White House is not just for history buffs”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2014 via mobile

Prior to arriving in Key West I hadn't realized the history behind this beautiful little island, but what a pleasant surprise.

Once we got situated we started looking around for some fun things to do which is when I found out about the President Truman's history on the island and the Little White House. Growing up in New England with a family of antuquers, I couldn't help but want to find out more about this unique slice of American history.
We found the place quite easily and entered the building via the gift shop. While we were deciding which admission tickets to buy (you can buy combo fix to this and other attractions and save a few bucks) and older gentleman approached us and asked us if we intended on taking the tour. Bill (?) was about to take the next group on a tour of the house so he wanted to male sure we joined if interested.

He pointed us in the direction of the meeting place and we met him and the group there a few minutes later. He was very friendly and gave a couple other people that were behind us the chance to join as well.

Bill did a great job of mixing humor in with the history and the tour was anything but boring. They make a big deal of turning I off your cell phone or at least turning off the ringer so don't try and be slick. The reason given is because a portion of the house is still set aside for presidential use and the security alarms are very sensitive. After about the fifth time repeating I was certain that everyone had their phone off.

Bill had plenty of stories as we walked through the house and I learned more about President Truman in that 30 minute tour than I had previously known in total. Yes,I'm Gen-X, so he was before my time, but still...

I'd highly recommend anyone with even a passing interest in american history to visit this landmark and take the tour. Thanks again Bill!
Its also a privately run institution so tourist dollars help keep it up. 'Murica!

“Must see stop!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 17, 2014

If you love a great story, and enjoy history - don't miss this stop. The guided tour gives a glimpse into the Truman presidency, and preserves an important piece of History. Loved the poker table that Truman used with his entourage. The tour is informative and only takes about 30 minutes. Time well spent.

“Authentic and interesting”

We took the tour on Mother's Day.
Our guide Bruce was informative, personable and well spoken. The house itself is incredibly preserved. We enjoyed the tour and learned a lot. Would recommend this tour.
