Who would have known what a great President Harry S. Truman was? My husband and I were delighted with the tour of the Truman White House in Key West. There were news clips, photos, original furnishings. The tour guide was very enthusiastic. Learned a lot.

“History's Alive In Key West”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2014

Even if you don't know who Harry Truman is, this is an interesting piece of living history. Built in the 1890's, it's a perfect look at what living in Key West during this period of time was like. Originally built to house the Navy Base Commandant, it was the home for Thomas Edison during WWI when he worked on depth charges for the war. Truman used it for rest and relaxation; Eisenhower recuperated from a heart attack there.

You will be part of a small group led by a very knowledgable local guide who will fill you with stories of things that took place here. The house is located on well maintained grounds and is in perfect shape waiting for the next dignitary to visit.

Take a break from the madness on Duval Street and return to the real world for an informative hour or so.

“A nice little walk back into history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2014

This was the place where Harry Truman vacationed during his years in the Presidency. Although it is still in use by the federal government, it is now run by the state and they give tours through the residence. We took the tour and found it fascinating. The rooms are maintained exactly as they were more than 60 years ago and the informative guides give a great presentation on the historic and personal events that have taken place here. Highly recommended way to spend an hour or so in Key West.

“Well worth your time!”

My husband and I had a fantastic tour of The Little White House today. Our guide Jimmy was a 76 year old native of Key West who great stories to tell as well as very interesting insights into HST. You could tell Jimmy admired this president. When I get home, McCullough's bio of this great man will be first on my To-Read list! Jimmy made the tour a pure delight. He never rushed us, spoke clearly, and knew his history.
