Very cool lighthouse with some of the best views of Key West. Just across the street from the Hemingway house. Free for military...BONUS!

I found this as something fun to do at a great price. The kids loved it and they learned a lot in the museum. The view from the top is amazing so make sure you bring a camera!

Some museums in the Keys have free admittance for those who served in the military. It was greatly appreciated to have our entire family enter for free. The greeter was very friendly. The lighthouse is nice- it offers amazing views of Key West. There are markers on the rim walk that point out and explain areas of interest. It does get breezy up there and the breeze was appreciated in late June. The caretaker house on premises is worth a visit. There are unique artifacts and bits of information about the lighthouse keepers through the years. A short movie (7-10 minutes) gave a good history of the lighthouse on Key West. Around the grounds there are life size statues replicating the dress and style of the time in which the lighthouse was in its heyday. It added a nice ambience to the place.

It's worth climbing the 88 steps to get to the top of the Lighthouse - you have views of the entire town and the water surrounding Key West!

I didn't climb to see the view this trip...have done it in the past. But, if you never have, you should do it at least once in your llifetime.

The surrounding neighborhood is beautiful. The flame-red flowers on these beautiful trees are just breath-takiespecially against the backdrop of a bluer-than-blue sky.
