If you want to be right in the middle of the sunset action at Mallory Square, this is the place to stay. Great staff and nice rooms. Our only negative was we reserved a "junior suite", which we expected to have a separate bedroom. Apparently they have two different "junior suite" room configurations -- one with a separate bedroom and one without. Unfortunately, room 426 where we stayed was just an normal oversized hotel room. One other oddity -- to get from the lobby to our room, you had to walk through the covered valet parking lot. Overall, this is a terrific hotel, very conveniently located and with outstanding people working there.

Room Tip: If you want a suite with a separate bedroom, make sure they understand that when you make the reserv...

I booked online directly on their website and got a great deal on a junior suite for one night. Many Key West hotels and inns don't accommodate stays shorter than two nights. When we arrived, the valet met us as we pulled up outside and before we got our things together had started the check in process. Check in was super smooth and very friendly and we were taken to our room within five minutes of arriving. Our room (number 402) was fantastic. A suite with a large sitting room with a balcony, a king bedroom - again with a door onto the balcony - and a large bathroom. The bathroom had twin basins, a shower and a whirlpool tub. The balcony had a table and chairs an a great view of the harbour. Result! We had two TVs, and a good sized safety deposit box, large enough for a laptop. Toiletries smelled great and white fluffy towels plentiful.

The room was decorated in lovely colors to complement Key West - tropical blues and greens. Beautiful and very clean.

The hotel is perfectly situated for Duval Street, Mallory Square and Sunset Pier - all within a few steps.

We didn't eat there or use the pool or fitness facilities so can't comment on those. The shop off the lobby is great to browse in for souvenirs or resort wear.

Couldn't agree more with previous reviewers about the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, all of whom were delightful. When we checked out, our bags were put into our car for us so we could continue to enjoy Key West a little longer without having to find somewhere else to park.when we returned, it took only five minutes for them to bring our car to the front so we could continue our road trip.

All in all, I'd highly recommend this place if you're looking for a little luxury on your Key West trip.

Room Tip: Can recommend the partial view junior suite.

Not sure if this hotel lived up to my expectations. It came highly recommended from our concierge in Miami Four Seasons, so I thought i'd give it a shot.
Spent 3 nights over a long weekend in a 2 double bed suite... overlooking a parking lot... with obstructed ocean views.
Pros:
Concierge and service was great.
Location was great, proximity to ocean, shops, restaurants etc. very close
Pool and pool service were better than expected
Cons:
Pearsonally, I thought the rooms a little dirty and dated. The carpet was musty and gross. The bathroom was dark and had a nasty jacuzzi tub with mirrors on the walls (and I think ceiling) plus it didn't even work.
The restaurant has a great patio overlooking the ocean but the food was a bit expensive for the quality you received.
Parking was a bit of a hassle

I just thought that this hotel would have been a bit classier.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a room with an unobstructed ocean view. Make sure you get the room that you pay for. Wen...

You won't feel like just another guest at the Ocean Key Resort and Spa like you do in the big hotel chains. With an address like 0 Duvall Street, you know you're in the prefcet location to enjoy everything Key West has to offer, all by foot. The most outstanding thing about this hotel is the staff. Tiffany Horton and Patrick Dekeyrel made the stay perfect for our group of 63! If you ever need anything arranged in advance - call one of these outstanding, caring profesional employees! They will take care of anything you can dream up!

We came down to Key West to get married. We had never been before so really relied on TripAdvisor when searching for a hotel. We could not be more pleased. Upon arrival we were met by Marta at the front desk who was extremely friendly. Our room was not ready since it was 8:30am, but she checked our bags into storage and told us to wait by the pool. Se said she would alert housekeeping to clean our room ASAP and that she would call us when it was ready. We went to the pool and enjoyed a great day relaxing. The pool area is beautiful and the staff is so friendly. Around 1pm our room was ready and boy were we happy. We were upgraded to a gorgeous one bedroom oceanfront room overlooking sunset pier (room 511) and could not be happier with the room. It was huge and very clean. The views are wonderful, bathroom was huge. The hotel gave us a complementary bottle of champagne and a note welcoming us to the hotel while on our wedding/honeymoon. I will break down my stay into a few different areas.
Staff: They were all wonderful. Charlie the bellhop was very friendly and helpful. Hassan, the waiter at Hot Tin Roof (hotel restaurant) was wonderful. Jess, at the pool made great drinks and was very friendly. And Nate and Mickey the outdoor concierge were also helpful and great to chat with. Every staff member we walked by during our 7 days there said hello to us and asked how we were doing. Never once did I see anyone on their phone or sitting down. When they aren't working they are cleaning. Every employee seems to love their job and it shows.
Cleanliness: Everything is squeaky clean. House keeping cleaned our room morning and then again at turn down service. The grounds are cleaned throughout the day, and the pool staff made sure to replace towels each time a guest left. The housekeepers were very trustworthy. We left valuables in the room each day and nothing every moved or went missing.
Dining: wonderful breakfast from Hot Tin Roof & speedy room service. Never ate dinner at Hot Tin Roof but we ate breakfast there most mornings. The Sunset Pier had great lunch and dinner options which we enjoyed poolside each day.
Location: The location could have not been more perfect. At 0 Duval you are close enough to the action, but far enough away to relax and unwind.
Drawbacks: Wifi does NOT work thorough out the hotel. Reception told us it only works at the pool area but that's not even fully true. It only works while sitting at the outside bar or next the surrounding tables. Cruise ships dock directly in front of the pool most days which blocks the beautiful ocean view as while as the sun around 3pm.

A lot of reviews complain about the roosters. We did hear them when at the pool but not ever in our room so they did not bother us at all I would imagine "island" facing rooms would hear them.

Overall we loved the hotel and will come back sooner rather than later. I could not stay anywhere else after our experience at Ocean Key Resort. Well worth the money we spent. The staff really knows how to treat their guests and the view can't be beat.

Room Tip: 5th floor rooms have vaulted ceilings.

My husband and I stayed here the week before Christmas, based on the reviews here on TA. We were not disappointed. Booked a Junior Suite and was upgraded to a one-bedroom on the 5th floor. Staff was fantastic. Also glad I noticed the $50 room credit coupon here on TA which we put to good use at the Hot Tin Roof for breakfast (fantastic) and a couple of drinks at the Sunset Pier. Great location next to Mallory Square. Also a very short walk to El Meson de Pepe. I would have rated our stay a 5, but there were just a few issues with some dust on the lamps and the bathroom. Just couldn't justify a 5 rating, I wish I can give a 4 3/4 stars. It's been years since I've been on a Key West vacation (except for a short cruise ship stop a couple of years ago...doesn't count). But this trip reminded me just how much I enjoy this eclectic, wonderfully eccentric place. Planning on making this a frequent destination, and will definitely stay at Ocean Key again.

This was the final hotel we stayed in on our honeymoon road trip from Miami to Key West. It was the most expensive of the three so I had high expectations, especially after a wonderful stay in Islamorada. The hotel at first glance looks great, and lots of it doesn't disappoint. To summarise I have listed the good, and the not as good below:
GOOD:
- the rooms are nicely appointed, and have good space and amenities
- the hotel was the only one to make a fuss of the fact that we were on honeymoon, with a great touch of giving us a free bottle of Verve Cliquot champagne on the day of arrival!
- the pool is warm, and we were able to get a sun lounger whenever we needed one, probably as there are less children staying at the resort
- the location is great, I wasn't too noisy from Duval, but was an amazing place to watch the sunset from the pool area away from the crowds and with a mojito in hand...
THE NOT AS GOOD:
- there was a problem with water leaking in the room, which made the carpet wet in one corner. I mentioned this on the first day, and they sent someone up super quick, but nothing got done, and we weren't offered a different room....
- the parking is 22 dollars a night, which is steep, given that when we needed the car getting on departure it took 20 minutes, and delayed our final trip to Miami....
- I am not sure we got the room we paid for. We paid for a superior grade room, but it seemed to be the smallest of their rooms, and overlooking the street.... I might be wrong, and it wasn't a deal breaker, but I had expected a little more for so much money....
- the carpet was dirty....we kept washing our feet and wondering why they were so dirty... We thought it was from walking around key west, but then noticed that it happened AFTER we got out of the shower! So it can only have been from the carpets.....?
BUT, apart from the small gripes above, we had a lovely stay. Key West is a great place; hectic, but great! And the mojitos in the hotel are great too... :)
