Marquesa presents itself in a bit of an understated way. You could easily drive by the intersection and not notice the tasteful blue building or cafe. Inside the courtyard, the garden pools provide a welcome oasis from the busy downtown "old town" Key West.
Only 2 blocks from Duval, and a few more from the Front Street area with the most restaurants, it's an ideal destination. The garden pools (one chilly one heated) are enhanced by a nice cascading brick waterfall, lounge chairs, free morning coffee, afternoon ice tea and ice water. We spent a lot of time lounging and reading in the tranquility. Our room was very tastefully furnisned with a very comfortable couch, two leather arm chairs, a spacious bathroom, with the king size bed screened a bit from the living area by a swag diagonal half drape. Very nice accomodations, although the street traffic is noisy and the neighboring roosters provide a wakeup call. The staff (especially the front desk staff) are exceptionally helpful, professional and friendly. I observed a staff member stopping by the pool to inquire about the day's activities of a couple exceptionally well behaved children. We opted for breakfast on our porch every morning, from a continental menu that was more than far from full service, but more than adequate, and reasonable. Overall a great place to stay, perfect location to hit Duvall Street no matter which direction (north or south) you're planning on walking. You can easily cover all of old town from here without needing to move your car from the lot or garage on property. We enjoyed our 4 nights here and recommend it highly. There a not any real activities on property to keep a young family occupied.

Room Tip: I don't see too many locations that I would consider exceptionally quiet here, although avoiding...

Again Trip Advisor contributors nailed it! Wife and I stayed in the suite, up the walk from the pool and delightful fountain. What a pleasure! The suite was large, clean, well appointed with everything one needs. The service is top notch. We actually spent one of our 3 days just lounging at the pool - quiet and relaxing - a real vacation. Close enough to the action but far enough for peace and tranquility. A few FYI's: if you are in the main house you could be climbing 3 flights with your luggage - no elevators and no real bell men type persons to help, as our friends discovered. Parking is adequate once you find your space jut leave it and walk everywhere. Ask for suite 23-26 - quiet and well worth the cost. We visited the Pier House and the Hyatt properties on the water with views - Nice but not the Maquessa - we'll be back!

I can't say enough about how lovely this hotel is. It is small and quiet, in spite of being walking distance to many of the Key West attractions. We especially enjoyed the pool area at breakfast time, which was peaceful and pretty. The staff at Marquesa are friendly and helpful. I would live here if I could!

The Marquesa hotel was the PERFECT selection for our first trip to Key West. Neither my boyfriend not I had been to the island before and we couldn't have been happier with our hotel selection. We chose the hotel based on what other people were saying on Trip Advisor and it's location on the island. I think the location of the hotel is PERFECT....we literally walked everywhere we wanted to over our 3 day trip. It's just a few blocks from all the action of Key west (old town, historic harbor, all the great restaurants and places to see...even someone with modest fitness levels could easily walk everywhere from this hotel!) The staff was great, really really top notch. We felt so comfortable and yet special at the same time! The pools are beautiful and the staff hosted a poolside "wine and cheese" event Saturday evening which was just a really nice added touch. When we arrived, Henry couldn't have been more helpful orienting us to the Island (where to go/see/eat etc) and immediately brought us complimentary glasses of vino! Overall, we would stay here again in a heartbeat! There is nothing negative I could say about the Marquesa, we adored it! Thanks everyone!!!!

Room Tip: We had a third floor "street and pool view" room and it was great...I really don't thi...

The Marquesa Hotel is top notch. Service was promo and friendly. My room was beautiful and comfortable. The gardens and pool area were luxurious and tropical. Just sitting on the patio and listening to the waterful is a vacation in itself but when you do venture from the grounds it is a quick walk to all that Duval, Mallory Square and Old Town have to offer. This place definitely deserves awards.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool and garden view

my boyfriend and I stayed at the marquesa July 2012 and it was the most romantic, serene & beautiful place to stay in key west. the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We checked into our the hotel and the man who checked us in brought us to our cottage in the back which was 5 star all the way....he also brought us a glass of wine to relax after driving. the room is very spacious and nicely decorated with a king size bed on one side and a leather chair and a couch on the other side. the pool was just steps away from our front porch where we would go swimming every night once we made it back from our Duval crawl. in the mornings they have coffee and tea outside by one of the pools, of course they also offer room service in which they bring to your front porch for you to enjoy before heading out for the day. The pools were very nice and clean, they do have a basket full of towels for you to use instead of grabbing one from your room. the stay was very quiet, no noisy people or children running around. the hotel was pricey but if you want to stay at a great place you are going to pay the price. oh! its a few blocks from Duval but that's why you ride a bike ;) stay here and you wont be disappointed :)

Room Tip: stay in one of the cottages off the main house, you are guaranteed to hear no noise from people comi...

Sitting in the quiet poolside gardens at the Marquesa, it is hard to imagine that you are just a few blocks from the frenzy of Duvall street. The facilities at Marquesa are beautiful, the atmosphere is elegant and relaxing, and the staff goes out of their way to be helpful. This is an exceptional hotel and one that is well deserving of the accolades it has received.
