Normally we like to stay different places when we go to Key West. Last time we stayed at the Pier House - see my previous review - and we liked it so much we decided to book Pier House again. This was a last minute trip but found a great buy 4 nights get the 5th free promotion so the price was right. We actually stayed in the room right above the room we stayed in last time!! The second story room seemed just a bit bigger - not by much - maybe a foot or so. The decor was exactly the same as the room below. Both roooms overlook the parking lot. The patio of the lower story room has a fence and foliage covering it that you have no idea you are on the parking lot. With the upper story room you are just a bit higher than the foliage so you can see the parking lot through the trees. Not much but you don't get the "I didn't know I am overlooking the parking lot" feel like before - you do know you are overlooking the parking lot. But because this room is a bit higher than the foliage more daylight comes into the room - which is appealing. The lower story room was always dark - so much so you had to turn on the lights all the time. So it is a trade off - you either know you are looking at the parking lot and have daylight or you feel like you are in a tropical forest but have to have lights on all the time. Either one - the rooms are nice. The best thing I like about this hotel is how quiet it is. I never heard anyone in the halls, parking lot, nothing - as was the time before!! Staying in bed and breakfast hotels or vacation rentals that are more in the residential areas you have to deal with the roosters waking you up early - which some days isn't exactly what you want to do..:) Plus many of the bed and breakfast hotels surround a pool and if your room isn't away from the pool you probably hear late night partying around the pool - which is fine on the nights you want to join in but on the nights you do not - it is a hassle....Now I cannot comment on the rooms at the Pier House that surround the pool - they may not be as quiet and the side of the hotel we stayed on both times.

The nice thing about the Pier House is it sits right in the area we like to be. Walk out of the hotel one way you are steps from the marina. Go out the other way you are on Duval near Hogs Breath and the rest of the action on Duval.

Last time we arrived early and was able to get our room right away. This time we arrived early (which it was early 10:30 am) our room was not ready but they stored our bags and we went over to Hogs Breath for lunch and they called us within an hour to let us know our room was ready - that is service.

Pier House will continue to be our first look hotel - with all the promotions etc that they run - if you can be flexible with your travel times you can find a comparatively pretty good deal at the Pier House. Oh BTW beware of the dice game at the Chart Room....we won money but the next morning was a bit rough...:).......it was a great time!!!!!!!

My wife and I just got back from KW. Pier House could not have been better. Great people, great food, great drinks and fantastic private beach.

One thing we would not do again is drive from Miami. It was way too slow and although the view was nice, people drive too slow and their was too much traffic.

Had a wonderful stay at the Pier House. Room was very clean, large and loved the bathroom. The bathroom was all tile , with a large shower with a bench, a TV and phone. Could have used a little more counter space but that was the only drawback. Wonderful view of the water and all the boat traffic. Location was perfect as we could just walk down Duval Street, no worries about parking and convenient to everything.
Food and service was excellent in the outside restaurant, a little pricy but well worth the cost.

Room Tip: Definitely worth the extra money for a balcony room with a waterfront view.

Thank you for your feedback and I am glad that you enjoyed your time at the Pier House Resort and Spa. Many of our guest enjoy the Spa building as it has some of the largest rooms in the resort. Also, our newly renovated spa is located in the building as well. We are the only full service spa on the island and can offer a variety of treatments. I look forward to seeing you soon.

Just loved staying here, a little piece of paradise, only problem was we only stayed two nights, so only had one full day. The room was lovely and clean, and I am a bit of a clean freak. The beds were really comfortable and the pillows devine. The bathroom was very spacious, spotless with a wonderful huge walk in shower. The shower would have been perfect if it had a hand held as well as the rain shower head. We had a ground floor, two queen bed, "Lanai Room", which was great for access to the pool and hot tub....the hot tub did not always work which was a shame, but it was always hot. The private beach with swimming area and platform was a great place to cool off, and looked as if there was some nice, if limited, snorkelling by the boardwalk. The lush grounds not only made this resort look wonderful, but gave lots of privacy to the ground floor patio. One issue with the patio is the exhaust water from the AC unit from the balcony of room above, almost a constant drip so you have to position chair so as not to have the water drip onto legs...perhaps a gutter might be needed to solve this?

The AC is an in room AC unit and it is a bit noisy, as some others have said, but really not an issue, it worked well and kept the room cool, the weather was blisteringly hot.

One other small thing that bugs me about many hotels....why only one bedside table between beds....a bedside table at each side of the bed(s) is a must these days, we all have gadgets galore and need a place to put them.....

We had breakfast at the Harbour View Cafe which was very pleasant, the staff were very attentive and made us feel very welcome, must congratulate new waiter Michael who was very professional.

The hotel is very handy for most of what is going on on Duval Street and the waterfront. Only a short walk to Sloppy Joe's and lots of other bars all with live music. It was great to be able to experience the buzz of the area and return to the calm of Pier House. It was also just a short walk to Mallory Square to stroll among the crowds at sunset....Pier House meant that for a short stay we could experience a bit of everything in Key West...even a boat trip to see the Dolphins thanks to being so close to the water sports operators....without having to spend time getting to and from places.

Hopefully will get to visit for a longer stay soon.

This hotel was the best hotel I've stayed at in Key West. Amazing little private beach is a part of the hotel. Hotel staff sets up your lounge chair and brings by your drinks. We were on the beach for hours each day. Heaven on earth. The pool is very large and there is a Jacuzzi. The beds are large and comfortable. It is located steps away from Duval street and has ample parking. Other amenities include a gym and large bathrooms with small private patios in each room. Free coffee in the morning by the gym.

Room Tip: ocean view rooms are available. All rooms are within very close proximity to beach and pool. We pref...

We arrived a little early and the room was not ready but they had it ready by the 4pm check in time. No problem as the hotel stored our bags while we went to the pool bar to eat and relax. Check in was smooth and the front desk staff and bellman were all very friendly, courteous and helpful. In fact all of the staff that we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay in a ocean view suite. The room was well furnished, cool, and the bed very comfortable. Nice shower. One TV in living area, one TV in bedroom and small TV in bathroom. The bed room was upstairs with a spiral staircase and this may be something you may want/need to consider, or at least ask about at booking. Small balcony but room enough for two to set outside and enjoy the view. The room was also very quiet. Housekeeping did a good job each day we were there and the concierge was very helpful with booking outside activities and providing information. The pool bar was very good with great bartenders and served excellent food which I presume came from the restaurant. Super fish tacos and a great flash fried calamari. It was also nice that this bar stayed open late and continued to serve food in the evening. The beach was a nice area but was small. The hotel and grounds are vey well landscaped and clean throughout. Located right on Duvall Street with easy access to the Sunset pier, Mallory Square and the Boardwalk and marina area. Again at checkout, all went well and staff polite and courteous. I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit Key West.

Room Tip: Our room was two floors with the bedroom up a spiral staircase. This may be something that you would...

The good, the service was fantastic, every need was met, everyone on staff was friendly and courteous. The brightest spot was the chart room and our bartender Victor. None could be better! He was outstanding! The food on site at the beach bar and grill was very good, the drinks at both the chart room and beach bar were exactly what was needed. Location is close to anywhere you want to go. And since they have their own beach, swimming area in the gulf AND pool, you won't ever be looking for a place to chill out.

The bad... This place is NOISY. The hallways are all tile and voices and sound go right through the doors into the rooms. If you have a door leading to an adjoining room, you can and will hear your neighbors. We were near the ice machine on our floor and we were awoken almost every night/morning by someone getting ice. Earplugs are highly recommended.

Overall, great stay and we would stay there again.
