“Love the Pier House”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

Had a wonderful family vacation at the Pier House. This was our 2nd time staying here, and it was just as lovely. Very friendly staff, nice warm pool (during a chillier March). The location is just something you cannot beat. We were probably at the CVS across the street every morning. Plus we're always running late getting 5 of us ready, so it was nice being close to the sunset activities. We used to live in Florida in the early 90s while my husband was doing his residency. We came to Key West a lot during those 3 years. We could never afford the PH in those days, and I always wanted to stay there. Now that I have, I won't stay anywhere else!

Room Tip: I loved being on the 1st floor, so we had 2 doors to come and go with. If you have the money, the oc...

Loved this place! Truly location, location, location. Within short walking distance of Mallory Square, it's ON Duval street and the marina where you'll take off for any excursions a very short walk. So you're enjoying the business of Key West, but then decide you need a respite. Pier House provides that beautifully. The grounds are wonderful, the pool is fun for the kids, and the little beach gives you a chance to put your toes in the sand! The snorkling from the beach was not bad, either! Some people even saw a manatee while in the water. The little pub is cool, too.
Highly recommend the ground level garden room.

We went to Key West for a long weekend, and Pier House is in the heart of Key West, great location. We enjoyed the resort, the pool, the restaurants, and the staff were friendly and helpful, too. If you didn't want to part on Duval, you could just go to the resort and hang there. Great experience, we were sorry to hear it's for sale. We hope it stays the same as always. Thanks so much!

Room Tip: I would not recommend staying at the spa, as it's just outside a parking lot - but if noise does...

Thank you for the detailed review, we're so happy you enjoyed your stay. The value of the Pier House is in its uniqueness and the attention by our staff to guest services. We feel any new owner would want to maintain and build on that special relationship the resort is known for. Thank you again!

We spent 4 nights at the Pier House resort. Staff very helpful throughout our stay, at check-in, & the guys at the beach. Swimming beach was good. Views over the ocean & to Sunset Key island from our harbour view patio on the ground floor were stunning, a really great place to watch the sun go down away from the hustle & bustle of all the other tourists. Variety of boats passed by regularly about 70yds from the patio, providing a continually interesting view. If you are considering staying here, well worth the upgrade to this type of room.
Hotel located at one end of Duval Street so walking distance to everything that was going on, although our room quiet at night due to its ocean-side location.
Came back to find an unfortunate problem with our hand basin one evening, had become slightly detached from the wall. Heather on reception & the helpful maintenance staff were great, & as we had to move rooms so they could fix the problem, they upgraded us for our last night & day to the Hemingway Suite, which was fabulous. 4th floor, big balcony overlooking the harbour, wonderful luxurious rooms, we felt truly spoilt!

We stayed almost a full week at Pier House and I can't tell you how often my husband and I said to each other, "What's missing with this hotel?" We had a great week, nice room with balcony overlooking the garden and a view of the ocean. They didn't have a two bedroom suite available so our daughters slept on the pull out sofa in the living room. Very clean and comfortable. Where it falls just a tiny bit short is in the décor, kind of parking garage hallways, the rooms have quality furnishings but the décor feels a little less than luxurious. Room cleaning was always very late in the day and one day was skipped altogether. Restaurant is nice but not fabulous. Pool area is kind of small, deck chairs are a little worn. Great location at the end of Duval Street on the water. Hotel staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

Room Tip: There are a couple suites with glass balconies right over the bay, they'll be pricey but wonderf...

I have been going to the Pier house at least once a year for 10 years. I just returned from my 13th trip in the last ten years. I am not positive, but I believe they are the only place that has a private beach that is located within a minutes walk to Duval street. They have an assortment of different room styles from overlooking the water to the Caribbean Spa rooms, which is where I stay. They have the best spa on the island offering great massages and a whole list of other treatments for the ladies. As I said earlier, the hotel is a minute walk from Duval street and only about a 4 minute walk to Sloppy Joe's which is pretty much the start of the open air night clubs. Their is a nice little beach bar with walk around service if you are laying on the beach and/or around the pool. The Pier House is expensive, but everything is expensive in Key West. It is only a couple of minute walk to two of my favorite restaurants, Bagatelle's and A & B Lobster. If you like to exercise while you are on vacation, as I do, the small exercise room is also located next to the Spa in the Caribbean Spa building where I like to stay.

Room Tip: If you stay in the Spa area near the road and go to bed early, bring earplugs. The Rum Barrel is ri...
