“Marine wildlife extravaganza”

Wild About Dolphins
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Wow - what an experience! Under the knowledgeable and helpful guidance of Captain George yesterday, we were treated to a marine wildlife trip that few things can parallel. We saw dolphins feeding, mating (!).....crikey, the entertainment was endless. This was followed by some snorkelling; again amazing - saw a barracuda, parrot fish, yellowtail snapper, a sargent major just to name but a few. Given the price against a lot of the entertainment you can try elsewhere in Key West, this is something not to be missed!

Five of us embarked into the backcountry in search of Dolphin and other wild life. My wife commented that the boat was very comfortable with cushioned bow seating, and awnings to protect from the south FL sun. We were barely out of the Marina when we spotted a single Dolphin feeding in the shallows. Even Captain George was surprised by this, and it was a good omen as we visited with a couple dozen Dolphin over the course of the morning. Captain George proved to be a very knowledgable and enthusiastic guide. Since we are new to boating in this area and had recently joined the marina, he gave us numerous tips to navigating the flats while traversing the backwaters of Key West. Our only regret was we were not able to meet Maya the sea dog as we have a white golden too that loves the water. I guess we needed to save something for the next trip.

WILD about DOLPHIN's greatly appreciates your patronage and wonderful trip review. It really means the world to us to get postive feedback regarding our trip experience. Captain George and me (Captain Sheri) love sharing our local knowledge - dolphins, marine life, diverse eco-systems, snorkeling, land-based fun, etc...By the way, "first-mate" dolphin dog, Maya, says "WOOF". Dolphin dog "Maya" and Captain Sheri were visiting family in Michigan. We hope to see you sometime in the future. Thanks from Team 'WILD about DOLPHIN's'

AWESOME!!!! We headed out with Captain George in the afternoon. We came upon 1 dolphin and sat and watched as it swam and fed. The captain was in touch with other captains and notified where they were sighting dolphins. We came upon 2 more and watched for some time. The second part of the trip was snorkeling but as we got to the area' Captain George said there were sightings not to far of a pod. Not disappointed at all. We came across around 8 dolphins. We then did some snorkeling. On the way back' we came across 3 more dolphins, then 3 more. They were breaching and then we noticed they were mating. It was amazing to see this in person. Discovery channel got nothing on our visit to the Gulf. If you have a chance, do this tour. You will love it.

WILD about DOLPHIN's team - Captain Sheri & Captain George thank you for your patronage and most awesome trip review. We love what we do & love to hear from you that you had a wonderful experience. It sounds like you had the opportunity to observe a number of affiliate sub-groups of dolphins within the larger pod as well as numerous natural behaviors/activities such as hunting/fishing/foraging, sleeping/resting, socializing and more... yeah...mission accomplished! No better compliment than yours "Discovery Channel has got nothing like this"... Thanks so much -we look forward to seeing you in the future.

We called another dolphin tour who happened to be closed (it is off season) but they did give us Wild about Dolphins #! Are we ever happy they did! We meet up with Captian George at the Key West Harbour Marina. He was amazing! After a few minutes of paper work and safety briefing, Captian George made it clear that this trip was all about us. We could do as little or as much as we wanted and he was there to make it happend for us. After a short trip across the Harbour we zoomed to the dolphin playground and we were NOT disappointed! Dolphins everywhere, jumping, feeding, baby dolphins! Capt George knew several dolphins by name and did a great job explaining behaviors, etc. We set off to snorkel and he got in the water with us and pointed out marine life we wouldn't normally see including lobsters, crabs and other weird creatures. Our final destination was a sand bar that can only be reached at low tide. It is full of shells! We spent time picking shells while capt George fixed us some snacks. Munching on snacks cruising back to the Harbour with our bags of shells and great memories was one of my favorite! A few notes - give yourself plenty of time to get to the Harbour. Our cab from Southernmost Hotel was $21.00. Bring extra towels - you are able to use the amazing yacht clubs amenities but they don't provide towels if you shower.

If you have read any of the previous reviews you know why Captain Sheri and First Mate Maya have the best reviews. Captain Sheri is just plain delightful, knowledgeable and respectful of the dolphins and the sea in general. Maya is a lover girl who isn't just along for the ride but enhances the adventure a thousands times over. We were two of the party of six that xenatroi reviewed and we just can't agree more. We will take this cruise every chance we get. The lunch was simple and delicious and if Captain Sheri has her back turned, then First Mate Maya is happy to help you finish yours! We started this tour happy and ended it ready to go again. Do yourself a favor - see the dolphins and go snorkeling with Captain Sheri and First Mate Maya. You will speak fondly of the experience for years to come.

Thank you so much from 'WILD about DOLPHIN's' owner, Captain Sheri and dolphin dog "Maya". We had so much fun with you... Dolphin dog "Maya" is a special pup - despite her ability to outwit me and literally leap at the momentary opportunity to clear lunch leftovers, I am fortunate to have her in my life. We are so happy you had a wonderful experience with us & hope to see you again. Warm Regards, Captain Sheri & dolphin dog "Maya"
