The Overseas Highway may be 110 miles long but is does not really get interesting in my opinion until one gets west of Upper Matecumbe Key where it leaves a stop and go commercial look behind and becomes a true engineering marvel of more bridge than road with wonderful views of ocean and key. Time seems to slow down and worries are left behind. The drive is best if one has time to make short stops at the many interesting sites along the way.
