I have been going to Key West for 30 years. Vacationed many times with my family, spending most of our time on the water, and always a walk or a drive down Duvall street. Coffee in the morning and shopping during the day.
On this visit it really seems that someone needs to protect the Key West brand. There are so many shops with trashy t shirts, water pipes, and nasty souvenirs. Many shops have closed and there seems to be a transition at this time. I hope it's for the better.
I expect that since there are more trashy shops, this is the type of clientele Key West wants. Again, protect the brand. The charming little crazy Conch Republic of the past that had a cool street with neat bars, music and shops now smells of trash and appears to need a good cleaning.
