We had a wonderful lazy morning on the beach - watching the sun rise with coffee - there was a beach yoga class going on, very quiet, peaceful - plenty of wildlife and clear waters. A rocky jetty to walk out on, watched boats go by. There were picnic tables and plenty of beach to laze around on. also an old fort if you are so inclined to get some history.
Small entry fee per person.

This was interesting. Our tour guide explained how the fort came to be and the story of its restoration. The nice thing is, it's in a state park with a lovely beach, so you can visit the fort then stay at the beach, which is a nice place to see the sunset.

Have to say I loved this place. Cheap entrance fee, clean park, friendly staff, clean beaches, cool fort to explore, creature comforts as you can rent chairs and beach umbrellas. Food establishment there. You can bring in food and grill there under a palm tree. This place is a little bit of heaven away from noisy Duval Street. I loved this place.Great place to bring the kids for them to splash around or soak up the sun. Do bring water shoes for there are pepples. Do I have to leave though?!

We enjoyed a couple of hours walking around the fort and over to the beach area. There were several bright orange iguana sunbathing on the outside of the fort wall that were quite a sight. For only $2.50 per person per day, a nice morning.

Whether you're a history buff or not, you will find the history and architecture of Fort Taylor interesting. It also happens to be located on some of the most beautiful real estate in this country!

The cost of entry is low, if you're in Key West, you must check it out.
