Had a geat time, walking around the old fort and being able to see the ocean from on top of the fort. The artifacts such cannon, cannon ball, old room and infemery in the fort and are insteresting to see.

The admission fee might be what keeps this beach so nice. This was the best beach I visited in Key West. It was clean and pretty. There was a lot of coral and the sand was course. Getting in and out of the water and making sand castles was a bit tough, but it was beautiful.

My advice is don't waste time sitting on the beach. Altho it is fun, there are too many other things to do.

Go to the Dry Tortugas AFTER visiting here are you'll be disappointed in the fort. The park and beach however are great! You can watch the cruise ships sail by (who knew that Disney ships played a tune when they blew their horns!) from the beach, enjoy a picnic and swim or bird watch. Very relaxing!

This state park is a gem. It is very easy to spend the day here. Do not come for fantastic beach because it is just okay. The coral sand and water can be a bit tricky. The layout is great for relaxation and plenty of space to enjoy the day with cooking or picnicking good options. The fort is also a plus. Watching boats go through toward the pier is very relaxing. Dogs are welcome; except the immediate beach area.
