The best beach on the island.
After Isaac went thru there was a lot of seaweed, corals and sponges washed up on shore. The water was still a little too murky for snorkeling ,but OK for swimming.
My wife and I took our metal detector hoping to find our pot of gold, but we did find $.81 !!!!

Thank mersingary

We live in the keys and have been to KW several times. Never thought to check out the Fort until our last visit. What an amazing place! Great history! They have preserved it so well and offer free guided tours. We spent a couple hours walking around the Fort, enjoying the great views and all the history still oozing from the walls there. What a great way to spend the day - end it with the beach and sunset.

To enter the water be sure you have water shoes, the coral beach is very rough and sharp. There is no sandy bottom in the water and the water is very cloudy. The cost of renting an umbrella and lounge chairs is rip off!

the park is nice you can do a BBQ at the picnic areas they have shaded by big pine trees also has great views for sunsets the fort is also nice to walk thru sometimes they have people doing reenactments its quite interesting for some people the beach is ok however has alot of rocks on the shore alot of people dont know that most or all of key west is built on coral rock and there is no such thing as real sand in KW its all just crushed up coral so if your expecting fine tropical sand this is not the place but its still a nice place to go and enjoy a nice hot summer day

We rode our bikes to the beach ($3.50 for bike, 4.50 for moped) and were a little disappointed to see there were many rocks (ouch) but if you wear your flip flops or water shoes you're absolutely fine. There are places to climb and watch people on jet skis/boats). Very relaxing because there aren't a lot of people there. Also a snack bar if you're hungry.
