This is one of the key spots that everyone gathers to watch the sunset and celebrate the day. Street performers (most who are very talented) swing into action all along the square. There are also some vendors hawking their handmade goods -- and some of the items are beautiful and creative.
There are enough bars and drink vendors so that no one need empty-handed when the sun finally slips below the water. But also watch your purse or wallet-- the crowds and jostling make it easy for the criminals to ply their trade.
Cruise ships dock here, but have to be out of sight at least a half hour before sunset or they are fined for ruining the view :) Have your camera ready to go since most days the colors are gorgeous and their usually is a sloop or two with their white sails offering that perfect contrast to the sea and sky.
