Owner description: Blue Planet Kayak invites you to escape to the seclusion of our tropical “backcountry” locales -- only accessible by kayak. More than a kayaking trip; we offer an Eco-Tour Experience! Glide across warm, crystal clear water only inches deep to the shelter of mysterious mangrove islands. Our guides are happy to explain this ecosystem's uniqueness in plants, marine life, birds and natural history.Let us catch marine animals only an expert could find for you to handle and photograph. Learn about egrets, herons and other birds roosting only feet away or prying the flats for food. Geared for any level of paddler, you won’t have to go far to see the hidden beauty that so many have called serene, enchanting, romantic and captivating. We take a maximum of 10 people per guide for a personal experience.

Our last night in Key West (after a week of rain) we took a leap of faith and booked the night kayak tour! What a cool experience! We kayaked through the mangroves seeing starfish, large snails, crabs and various fish. We also went to a larger mangrove where a variety of large birds traveled each night. It almost reminded me of a prehistoric island. It was dark and the hundreds of birds made loud noises which felt like you were traveling back in time. We also saw an octopus, sea ray, shrimp, lobster and other neat wildlife. Chad was an excellent guide!

This is easily the best thing we did in the Florida Keys. My family and I, including those who have never kayaked before, went on the sunset tour with Chad. Chad was extremely knowledgeable on the local ecology and wildlife and was extremely helpful in helping us get the most out of our experience. During our tour we are able to observe conch, octopus, sting rays and lobster as we navigated the mangroves. The pricing was very reasonable compared to other kayaking tours in the area. Overall this is a great activity for families or anyone wanting to experience the Florida keys wildlife up close and personal. No previous kayaking experience necessary.

We went on the Sunset tour. Chad was very knowledgeable on the local sea going animals and birds. We saw manatee, octopus, conch, lobster, and bio-luminescent sparkles in the sea grass, as well as more birds than I can remember. It was a relaxing and informative tour.

This was one of the best things we did in the Keys. Very interesting and beautiful. However, our great experience was tainted by the utter rudeness of their driver woman. We followed the instructions for arrival time and place exactly, but nevertheless received a very rude call from the driver of their van asking us where we were as we were driving to the location. We were NOT late (and in fact were a couple of minutes early). When we arrived a couple minutes later, she was again very rude (no social skills whatsoever). We had to then follow her van to a hotel to pick up a couple, and had to follow her to the location (which is a sketchy industrial park), where she again was totally rude!! Otherwise this would have been a great evening if not for this woman's unbelievably rude and unprofessional behavior.

We just finished a 2.5 hour sea kayak tour with James of Blue Planet, and we had a great time! James really knows his stuff and was able to show us all kinds of unusual creatures like basket stars, queen conch, and sea hares. He's great with kids (our daughter is 10) and was a super guide! I would definitely book again! Just be sure to bring water and some cash for a tip, because there is nothing convenient at the marina where Blue Planet docks.
