Chose Parrot from price, but was surprised by the overall quality of the resort. Although it is a 10$ taxi tide from downtown Key West, you Håvard all you need at the resort and close vicinity. Shopping mall across the street provided a few chain restaurants and CVS/Wahlgreens, and the taxies took us to downtown quickly and with a bit of advice on the features of this old city. Sunset adventures on the site had some really great events, try the wave rider tour, great fun and fun guide.

Room Tip: Choose pool view, the ocean view is overrated..

Horrible hotel, horrible stay. Horrible service. Not a true resort...notice the tricky wording in the ads "hotel & resort".. It is an extremely smallish facility with a very claustrophobic feel (see pictures). The beautiful pictures in their advertisements are a joke. This place is bareley big enough to be considered an inn or a bed and breakfast...a far cry from a resort. The sliver of a dead end parking lot is a good indication of what to expect inside. Long walk from parking lot to our room. Side walks so small we had to step aside to let others pass. Waterfornt view is a view of muddy fishing waters. Several super small pools covered up with so much greenery it looks more like a place for clandestine meetings instead of a family swim. Balcony connect to balcony of next room...so no privacy at all. Upons arriving, we requested a refund of our prepaid room cost so we could find more suitable "family" accomodations. They flatly refused even though we requested numerous times and had expedia to contact them since we puchased thru expedia. At over $300 per night we couldn't afford to lose the money so we ended up staying one night and left around 6 am the next morning retruning to Orlando. After the frustrating ordeal at this "hotel" we gave up on key west entirely.

This was a charmed location for us: a short bike ride into town, yet a terrific, relaxed-and-secluded resort feel to the hotel and grounds. We rented bikes right at Parrot Key, then used them to get absolutely everywhere. The center of town was no more than a 10-minute ride. The only time we took a cab was when we went into town for a nice dinner.

The grounds are lush and well-kept. Our room was on the ground floor, facing the water (Sunset Pier side); our porch onto the sand was a delight from breakfast to sunset! The room was spacious, nicely decorated, and very clean. Even the color palette in the room was relaxing-- a wonderful Key West mix of painted furniture. The hotel feels very new and modern, although constructed in a traditional style.

The pool environments are lovely. Food service is available at the main pool: a bit pricey, but can't beat the convenience-- and the quality was very good. The pools do close a bit earlier than we would have liked...but an employee was gracious and understanding when we stayed a little late. ;) We were also able to book a dolphin-watching trip right from the resort; we had done our homework, and the price was competitive.

Although the environment within the resort is quiet, Parrot Key is right next to a 24-hr drugstore (which is convenient!), and across the road from a large shopping center. It felt very much in the middle of everything when that's what we needed-- yet wonderfully serene when we just wanted to relax there.

Room Tip: On the ground floor facing the Sunset Pier, it's like having beach access from your room. Deligh...

I received a great deal on this hotel through Booking.com compared to other similar hotels in the area. I was pleasantly surprised by how pretty the property is and how nice the room was. It had a very "Key West" feel to it. We stayed in a garden view room and it was lovely with a nice little porch off the back. Walking through the grounds was like walking through true Florida. The hotel was very quiet with nice, clean pools and the resort fee was comparable to others in the area. My sons took a guided jet ski tour from the property and they enjoyed it very much. Neither one had ever been on a jet ski before and the guides were great explaining how to drive the jet skis and the rules of the water. They stopped several times and the guides gave them all kinds of info about the island. One suggestion I would make to the owners would be to fix the shower door. Water ended up all over the floor and I would hate to see someone fall and seriously injure themselves.

This hotel has a lot to offer, but is so expensive. The rooms are a nice size and very modern and comfortable. We got one facing the water, so the door opened up to the patio and sandy beach. The sunset was pretty to watch from our patio. The parking is a joke. Maybe enough parking places for 1/4 or the guests. When it fills up, you have to park next door at Walgreens and walk back to the hotel. A pain in the butt when you have luggage. The blow dryer in our room was broken and took over an hour for someone to bring a new one. The large pool was closed also. A bummer. And they had a pricey resort fee, which there should not be one. We will not stay here again. There are other hotels that are nicer and less expensive.

Room Tip: Stay on the bottom floor facing the atlantic.

We stayed here for 4 nights in May. The positives are the privacy, and the pools. The salt water versus chlorine was gentle and like a small oasis. Our room was huge, and had a small shared sandy beach-type area for lounging or sun tanning. The bed was good, AC worked well and we completely enjoyed it. While its a larger hotel, the greenery and pool layout never make it feel " huge".

The negatives are that there is no beach at the hotel, but there is a shuttle to the other side of the island to use one ( with free lounge chairs). Also, while we had a car , and could easily get into downtown key west - the hotels location is not within walking distance of the downtown key west attractions/ activities.

Overall, the hotel was great.

Rooms have an apartment like entrance. Sheets and towels are just horrible (thin, old). Shower heads are really old. Not what you would expect for a 300+ per night hotel. The porch on the back with the sand looked charming but we couldn't lay out there due to the noise from the nearby highway/boats/jet ski and fumes from boat rental place within feet of us. Not a good location either - it's not close to any of the activities on Duval street or Mallory square.

Room Tip: Ask for the beach&and view but away from the boat/jet ski rentals!
