“Key West Getaway”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

We came to Key West for a wedding. This place was AWESOME. The staff was excellent. the pools were great. Even though we were just off Route 1 and there is lots of construction, the tranquility that you get once you are at your room or the pool is great. Would definitly book this hotel again.

We came to Key West to soak up some sun and experirnce the Keys. Parrot Key was just what we were looking for. Quiet, relaxing, beautiful grounds and refreshing pools {take your pick!) Or the beach area with plenty of lounge chairs. Comfortable, clean, spacious rooms. A short drive to Mallory square to watch the sunset and dine. Great experience. We miss it already! Pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Upon our arrival, I thought that we had made a big mistake booking this reservation. The hotel is located 2 miles south of Deval Street, on route 1. It is situated next to a Walgreens Phamacy.
But once you enter the grounds, your negative thoughts are no longer. Front desk employees cound not have been more accomodating. Extremely pleasant and responsive to all our questions. I was traveling with a party of 4 adults. All of us are single. We opted for the suite which was $500 plus dollars a night. It consisted of 2 full baths, 2 bedrooms, and a living room.
I was disappointed with the pint size refrigerator but we managed. There were 2 porches , one overlooking the water and the other overtooking the walkways. The hotel was situated on a waterfront(inlet from the ocean). There was an sandy area where one could sunbath but no direct access to the saltwater was availble, other that a dock for viewing the sunset. On the premises were 4 heated pools(about 5 feet in depth), small in size but accomodating. I wished one would have been designated for adults only but that was not the case. They served breakfat and lunch, at a Tiki like bar near the pool. Fresh squeezed orange juice was $5.00 a glass. We opted to eat off the premises, but did eat breakfast one time a the Tiki Bar. Very nice but a bit on the expensive side. We were led to believe by the hotels description that were we extremely close to Davol Street. That was not the true and I felt the advertisement was a little misleading. But we walked 2 miles to and from Davol Street to get our daily exercise. Overall the hotel was more than adequate. I would recommend it but next time I would prefer to be closer to the center of Key West.

Room Tip: Stay in the rooms with a water view.

My wife and I were both impressed with the hotel and staff during our stay. The hotel was clean, well kept, staff extremely helpful, and very prompt to respond to any questions or concerns. We would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay at Key West. Just a heads up, it's not walking distance to Duval Street or beaches, which just means it's more quiet and away from crowds.

The location is a bit odd, but don't let that fool you. It is an oasis in the middle of shopping centers and construction. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are very quiet, homey, comfortable. Wish we had had more time to stay and enjoy any of the 4 pools. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Key West but away from Old Town (which is only a few minutes away if you want to visit there, but not stay in the midst of).

We were in the hotel for 3 nights just a few weeks ago. It was a pleasant experience. However, the resort ads do not clarify the difference between 'waterfront'' and 'oceanfront.' We paid a premium for a 'waterfront' room thinking we would have access to the ocean. The graphics of the room on the website showed sand, beach chairs and walkway to water. However when we got to the hotel we see that it's not on the beach and the room is actually is in the second floor. The staff showed us a ground floor room with access to the man-made beach (2ft wide and no access to water-a river)and explained that the hotel was just a waterfront hotel :-). This should have explicitly stated in the room description.

Also, our rental car batter died during the trip. When we asked the resort staff, she just offhandedly remarked that they had that issue before too but they don't have jumper cables in their mechanical department. If it is a common enough problem, why wouldn't you prepare for it. For visitors, resort may be the only source of direct assistance. The resort staff didn't try to find out about the problem or try to find a solution. So...not very helpful!

However, their pools are wonderful!

Don't let the road construction & commercial neighborhood deter you from staying here. Once you check in, you are drawn into the lush tropical paradise of Parrot Key. The design is smart so that you never see the road or shops. Four stunning pool areas which are very private & quiet with tall palms & exotic plants surrounding the perimeter. The room was average except there is no closet, just a wardrobe to hang your clothes which is simply inadequate. We had a waterfront room which looked out onto a sandy area overlooking a canal with a view of the ocean. If you wish oceanfront, you will have to specify since waterfront can be either canal or ocean. We enjoyed our back porch where we could watch the sunset & relax in the Adirondack chairs. The landscaper has done an outstanding job throughout the resort. Getting to the rest of Key West is not difficult. Staying a little ways away from the hustle of Duval is not a negative. We would definately return.

Room Tip: Waterfront can be either canal front or ocean front.
