Parrot Key is a pretty, clean, comfortable hotel but it is too far away from Key West old town and beach on a very busy highway, without a shuttle bus. All the other hotels alongside had a shuttle bus. Taxis up to $20 a trip to and from hotel to Key West Old Town or the beach. We had a nice room on the sand but there was absolutely nothing around the hotel. They only had a pool bar and cafe with a mediocre food selection (no restaurant) which closed at 7.00pm. We would not stay there again,

We had the pleasure of staying at Parrot Key for 6 nights in February, for an amazing week! We brought a group of 20 with us and all stayed at the resort for our destination wedding in KW. From the moment we called, the staff was happy to host our group without making us guarantee a certain number of rooms. We arrived at sunset, with all the palm trees lit up at the entrance of the resort it was an amazing sight to see :) On our arrival we met Jacinda a the front desk who was really lovely, they offered us an upgrade to a larger room which was a lovely gesture and kick off to our wedding week (they actually upgraded several in our group). Jacinda was a great source of info for the whole week, gave great recommendations for dinner, drinks and fun things to do (and coupons too!). We were so excited to be at such a beautiful resort and knew our guests would love it too! Here are some of the big highlights we loved:

1. Beautiful rooms with AMAZINGLY comfortable beds... best sleep ever....
2. The grounds of the resort are beautifully maintained... sand is raked, plants are beautiful, palm trees out your window.
3. The pools are very private, and great places to relax.
4. Often ate lunch on the resort at Cafe Blue, great food! Especially if you dont want to leave the pool :)
5. Friendly staff... everywhere... Always greeted with a warm "hello" or "good morning."
6. On site watersports which is very convenient, they will also get bikes or mopeds for you.
7. SO quiet, we liked hanging out on Duval but were so glad to return to somewhere quiet and peaceful at the end of the night.
8. Decor of the rooms was perfect, very simple and beachy with great finishings.

We would definitely recommend Parrot Key to anyone looking for a relaxing, beautiful place to stay in KW. Thanks for making our wedding week so so special! We CANT wait to get back :)

I think that this hotel is beautiful and the front desk staff was great. However that being said, for $477 a night we expected to have our room cleaned daily, fresh towels for pool and room. This only happened when we called. The room was very small with no table, but the view was amazing. We were informed at the bar that an 18% gratuity was added to every purchase. But, we had to go get our very costly cocktails ourselves. They should have someone going around to all the pools. The food was average and very expensive. No continental breakfast or coffee served all were extra plus that 18%. Like I said, quiet and beautiful but could have been so very much more for the price.

When you're in Parrot Key you are not really in Key West. Not at all. You are outside of town across the highway from a really boring shopping center. (Note: cross the highway and have breakfast at Goldman's..Fantastic!! $3.99 until 10AM!! Great bagels)
Parrot Key is lovely, and while you're inside their grounds it's pleasant, but once you've had a swim in one of the warm enough delightful pools, or have sat under a palm tree on the sandy area outside of your room, what will you do? You can go to the bar (which is not really a restaurant and has a very limited menu) and have a sandwich and a little drink in a flimsy plastic cup (no excuse for an $8 drink to be served in a tiny specimen cup), or you can drive into Key West and walk around and find a place to have a real meal. If you take a taxi into town it will cost you about $14. each way.
That said, the staff is beyond friendly and nice, and the decor is very bright and attractive, the bed super comfortable, and the air conditioning great.
The sandy beach is not a beach. It's just a sandy yard with chairs and in some cases a lovely view of the water.
I wanted to like this place because it is pretty and the staff couldn't be nicer, but.....

Room Tip: Get an ocean view

The room was a moderate size with a great bathroom, enough for 4 women on a girls trip. The landscaping was amazing & gave the facility a real tropical and secluded feeling. The 4 pools allowed for lots of swimmers at once without the overwhelming feeling that some large resort pools can have. Would recommend for anyone who wants to stay close to Old Town, but not in it.
