“Great hotel”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

Great resort. Had a 2 room suite here and it was excellent. The suite is spread over 2 floors and is really spacious. Loads of room for 4 people. The suite was perfectly clean and maintained to a high standard.
The 4 pools available mean you can choose which has the best atmosphere and sun/shade. The pools are really warm too.
One criticism I would make is that we had a beachfront suite which is significantly more expensive than a garden one but I don't think it was worth it. The 'beachfront' was more of a sandbox next water inlet. Still nice enough but not quite what I had expected.
Staff were perfect and very helpful.

We loved Parrot Key Resort. You are in a huge beautiful garden next to the water. Close to all the things you need. Only bad was the city doing construction on the road which makes you route a different way but not a big deal.

Due to some mixed reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I thought the Parrot Key was wonderful. If you want to be closer to the action, then stay somewhere else, but the location wasn't a real problem for me. Sometimes I took a cab in; sometimes I took the bus (there's a stop in the shopping center across the street). My waterside room opened onto a patio with sand -- yes, it's not a real beach, but how many places actually open onto an actual beach from your room? (And if so, I bet they cost a lot more than this place). The staff was great: very friendly and responsive, and a problem I had with the TV was quickly resolved. I can't wait to come back to Key West, and when I do, I hope this place is available. One quirk: the "eco-friendly housekeeping" means they don't do much to service the room, so make sure they know it if the sheets need changing more frequently -- and reconsider that $25/day resort fee (although it's pretty much standard now, I'm not sure what it actually pays for here, since there's no real beach and all the other watersport amenities are separate). It's handy to be next to a 24-hour Walgreen's, and the in-house cafe was really good (much better than I usually expect for the hotel's restaurant).

Room Tip: The waterside rooms open onto an area with sand. Being on the ground floor is easier to accommodate...

Truly a beautiful resort. We stayed at the Parrot Key based on a recommendation of a friend. We weren't disappointed! The resort is absolutely gorgeous. If you have an appreciation for lush foliage and a truly "caribbean feel" - this is your place. The resort is easy to find, modern, extremely clean and offers many amenities. Two drawbacks - one of which will resolve itself. There is construction on Roosevelt Boulevard. Try to avoid suites 1-16 (perhaps even 17-24) to minimize construction noise. Another drawback to the construction is the taxi situation. You can only go south on Roosevelt. Not an issue if you're going downtown, but if you are trying to catch a taxi from the Duvall area back to Parrot Key, you'll pay at least $20. They have to come back up Flagler and make a series of cut-through's through shopping center lots etc. - it literally looked like a traffic jam behind the grocery store! We were told by the locals that the project is going to take another 2 years - judging by the lack of work going on, I might say 3. You can get around this by 1) walking - 2 miles, great if you appreciate architecture and popping into shops or 2) situate yourself closer to Flagler when you're ready to catch your taxi back to Parrot Key. Biking and mopeds are a popular option as well. The suite itself was quite large - spacious bedroom with a balcony overlooking the waterway, updated bathroom with separate shower/deep tub, large living room with two doors leading out to a balcony overlooking the garden. There was another staircase that led to a locked door, which we found out from the front desk was another bedroom and bathroom (you can request this combination). We did not hear our "neighbors" downstairs at all - soundproofing was very good. Every morning I stepped onto our balcony and saw the many groundskeepers tending the gardens and raking the sand on the "beach". There are very few beaches in the Keys, there is a faux beach at Parrot Key with nice wooden lounge chairs. You will truly enjoy your stay at Parrot Key Resort. We hope to return soon!

Room Tip: Until construction is finished on Roosevelt Blvd, stick with suites 25-65.

Not the best in the Keys! Location is far from the action, ok if all you want is a quite pool location. No beach and is on the wrong coast. The rooms are cheaply built, you can hear everything. Our second room never got cleaned and the price is what you would expect for a high end hotel. This is not high end, I would call it new economy built hotel with a high price. Look elsewhere.

Really a nice place to stay in Key West. Our room was a suite on the second floor. The rooms have been recently redone and everything was clean and like new in our room. We enjoyed the pools - a little different with 4 small pools - but we enjoyed it. The staff were all very helpful in restaurant recommendations. Rutanya was exceptional in her recommendations and friendliness.

Room Tip: The rooms upstairs were like a suite. We really enjoyed the extra room.

No beach, but beautiful water views and walkout to sandy "beach". A bit far from Duval and Mallory square, which can be annoying because parking is hard at Key West. Service is great. Pool is heated. Room is clean and large.
