“A really beautiful oasis in the Key West area!”
Reviewed April 13, 2012 via mobile

Excellent reviews well deserved! Beautiful rooms and great atmosphere in the whole complex. Notwithstanding ours was a very short stay to drive through the Keys and see Key West, the extremely kind and very efficient staff made the experience even more enjoyable. They can arrange from bikes' and boats' rental to any type of activity you may want to do while in Key West. Definitely a place we plan to go back to!

Warning to upstair guests: No elevators and very steep stairs, no privacy on the balconies, you hear/see everyone. No fans to cool, no desk in the suite, no lights in the ceilings because no fans, bed was hard, no restaurant other than the food they prepare by one pool. The balcony waterview is boats and only 8 feet water. The location is far enough away to have to drive to downtown Key West. Way too expensive for what you get. No robes. They don't clean your room until 4 p.m.

The bright side: They have 4 pools, the place is new and clean, no odors.

Room Tip: They never cleaned our room and it was 4:30, and we saw the ladies that morning as we left, and aske...

The one thing that is very annoying is $25.00 a day for fees. I recommended they add to price of room because there is no way out of it. If you are visiting Key West for food/entertainment/etc, this is not the place to stay because it is to far out from the action. Who wants to drive in Key West? Not me.
The hotel has great rooms and is an excellent destination place and very clean. We were in an upstairs one bedroom suite. The rooms on either side are noisy. This is a place where you would want to take your family and spend time there. They have pools, etc.
If you need help see Samantha. She is wonderful and a great help. The front desk staff is great.

Room Tip: Depends on if you like stairs or not. The upper suites are quieter and have better views and balcon...

The Parrot Key is a wonderful resort. It is close enough to downtown but far enough away to be secluded. The property is beautiful and the rooms are great. The only issue we had was that the restaurant/snack bar closed at 7:00 pm. This forced you off the property to get some food. The pools were also wonderful and secluded.

The standard of accommodation is very high with quality fixtures and fittings in the apartments and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in bar none. Our two bed/two bath apartment had three huge flat screen TVs with multiple channels at no extra charge. We found a Spanish channel screening live UK Premiership football. A microwave and small fridge are provided- a larger coffee maker and a sink would have been handy, you have to empty your coffee cups in the bathroom. The two balconies were great, the wooden chairs were charming but soft recliners would have been even better. The pool areas are elegant and spotless, as is the whole resort. The cafe prices are very reasonable with a small but nice choice of drinks and food. The location is very handy, there are shops and restaurants immediately adjascent to the property, Key West centre is a $17 cab ride, about ten minutes away. I paid in advance and got the two bed apartment for £250 a night, which is pretty good considering that gets you a small double hotel room in London.

Room Tip: The two bed apartments are upstairs with great views over the water

I booked a room here for 4 of us in the ocean front 2 story room a month before our reservation. A week later I noticed a transaction on my bank statement that I had been charged an additional $895, which our reservation was for 4 nights for $1382 and they had already charged me for our reservation. I called the hotel immediately and they told me someone new charged my card for someone elses reservation and they would fix it. This was obserd, luckily I had the $ in my account of I would have been charged by the bank. So I kept my reservation despite this.... THE DAY OF OUR RESERVATION, we are all done packing the car to head down to Key West, (we live 5 hours away) and we get a call from the manager KRISTIN, she tells us "we do not believe Parrot Key is the resort for you, we have cancelled your reservation and your money will be back in your account in a few days" we begged them to give an explanation but there was not one they could give, we lost our reservation and desperately searched for a new hotel (meanwhile it was spring break and st patricks day and everything is already booked) so we had a friend of ours call the resort to try and book a room under a different name, they told our friend they were completely booked (this was maybe 5 minutes after they told us they were cancelling our reservation) only conclusion we could come to is they overbooked and gave our room away. I cannot express the devastation and the trama this hotel caused us. Luckily I spoke with a wonderful woman at BANYAN RESORT and they had 1 room left, it was an amazing room at that and cheaper than Parrot Key, Parrot Key is about a mile from Duval, Banyan Resort is 2 houses down from Ernest Hemingways home, about a block from Duval, if your thinking of Parrot Key DO NOT DO IT!!! Call banyan resort they were amazing and turned our whole experience into an amazing trip. The balconys are huge the rooms are huge, its close to duval but far enough that it is secluded from the noise...Not only did Parrot Key cancel our reservation but they also didnt put the $ back in my account for 6 days, luckily the bank helped me in this issue, dont give them your $ they will charge your card for no reason and cancel your reservation the day of... Go to Banyan Resort they were wonderful!

Everything about our experience was positive. We had driven down from Central FL but did not need the car at all. Our check- in was speedy, although it would have helped us if reception had known the trolley route so we were not surprised by the one hour it took us to get to Sunset Pier on the trolley. Taxis are called by the front desk and are available within 5 minutes or less. (Controlled rates and inexpensive)
The room was exactly like the online photos except bigger than expected due to the large window and the private porch area which could be appreciated from inside the room. (garden view room) Clean and comfortable with fluffy comforters. The grounds are lovely, very tropical, very well maintained. And 4 pools hidden among the foliage and shrubs means you can always find a lounge chair to read or relax. For breakfast no need to go anywhere else than Cafe Blue with special breakfast paninis starting the day. Wifi worked well outside. Not a "spring break" type of environment but not stuffy either. The guests (many international) were friendly too.
The staff is very professional, caring and dedicated. Fun time!

Room Tip: The water view rooms were not available for our time period, but the private porches on the garden r...
