Attraction details
Owner description: In 2012 the iconic boat the African Queen was restored for her 100 year centennial celebration. In May 2012 she once again began plying the waters of Key Largo and currently offers canal and dinner cruises. We go out daily at 10am, 12am, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm. On Fridays and Saturdays at 6pm we offer a dinner cruise to the Pilot House Marina where passengers disembark and enjoy dinner in the restaurant before boarding the vessel once again to return to the Marina Del Mar. Dinner and lunch cruises are also available on request for groups of at least 4 people.

“Relaxing”

We went out for a evening cruise down the canal and really enjoyed it! So relaxing and fun, you go thru the canal overlooking all the big beautiful homes at a nice slow pace!! The only thing that we didn't like about it was the guide didn't give us much information on the boat! We would ask questions but he didn't seem to like us asking questions! He seemed to have the same personality as Humphrey Bogart, not very talkative and alittle cranky! All in all, being a big fan of the African Queen movie, we were all very glad we took the trip!

“A real pirate ship”
Reviewed March 8, 2014

We felt like it was a scam from the moment the "Capt" invited a 16 year old dock boy aboard our private cruise. This is a small old craft and it was able to handle all the BS shovelled during our trip surprisingly. Absolutely no history of the boat or the area or anything worth while was talked about by our "guides". If you watched the movie in the last 50 yrs, you already know more than this team of two. It could have been a really amazing learning experience, but we blame our poor experience all on the "Capt" for being disinterested in us, and more in the young lad who joined our private tour. If anyone was at the ticket booth when we left i would have asked for a refund, but he disappeared just before we docked.

“History up close - she's the real deal”
Reviewed February 19, 2014

If you like old movies, objects of history, museums, old machinery that you have to know just how to get it going, and being out on the water - what a combination this is! Definitely a highlight of the trip! The route itself isn't terribly exciting - but that may be a good thing - you aren't there for that, you are there to experience this history of a true floating operational museum. Excellent restoration, excellent Captain, and being able to take the helm and pilot her for a while - a priceless experience.

“Fabulous for photo op and bragging rights”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

This certainly seems like the original, authentic African Queen. It's not modern or slick or fancy in any way. But we had a sunset cruise in which we were the only passengers, and we got the full attention of Richard, the driver. I got to drive the boat myself so my wife could take the obligatory photo.

The cruise route was interesting to us, past lots of houses and every manner of water vessel. However, there is nothing exotic about this territory, a salt-water channel apparently manufactured in order to create expensive "waterfront" housing.
