Owner description: In 2012 the iconic boat the African Queen was restored for her 100 year centennial celebration. In May 2012 she once again began plying the waters of Key Largo and currently offers canal and dinner cruises. We go out daily at 10am, 12am, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm. On Fridays and Saturdays at 6pm we offer a dinner cruise to the Pilot House Marina where passengers disembark and enjoy dinner in the restaurant before boarding the vessel once again to return to the Marina Del Mar. Dinner and lunch cruises are also available on request for groups of at least 4 people.

“So sad to see in disrepair”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2011

Luckily we only had to travel about a mile to see tha African Queen
It is a sad sight which has been left to rot.
Still it was cool to touch the actual boat and think of it in it's hey day

So much more could be made of it but at least it's free to view

“Worth a stop, but no need to go out of your way unless you're a movie buff.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2011

My family and I stopped to view the boat while passing by on our way to our hotel. You sort of having to hunt for it because though there is a sign by the road saying "African Queen", once entering the parking lot there's zip. We weren't sure if it was in dry dock in shed, in the water or what ( It's out of the water, but hanging over the water along the docks).

The boat is in ok condition and interesting, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to see it. If you happen to be in the area and have an interest in seeing it, then certainly do so. If not, that's ok too.

“A nostalgia trip”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2008

If you've enjoyed this classic movie you will probably want to view the boat but otherwise it isn't much to see...in really old weathered condition. Worth a few minutes of your time.

“African Queen”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2007

I consider this boat, sort of famous, but not much is written about it. It is out of the water and accessible for viewing and has a canvas roof covering it for protection. Thre used to be cruises available, but the owner has passsed away and the man in the Gift Shop is one of the owners of the boat. I beleive that there is some disagreement between the new owners as to what to do with the boat. So get there to see it.
