This review is a bit late, but we had our wedding at the Coconut Palm Inn back in April 2011 and everything about it was absolutely perfect. From the planning stages all the way through the wedding, everything was absolutely great. We had a large wedding, so we booked up the entire hotel for 3 nights and only our guests were staying at the hotel. It was so cool to wonder out to the pool and beach and it was filled with all of our friends and family. Kathy (who is the director) is amazing. Being a bride planning a wedding from far away (the DC area), she was so helpful in every aspect; from providing recommendations on other vendors, to calming my nerves about nearby construction. It is not a 5 star hotel, but the rooms are all very clean and nicely decorated. It's nice that there are a variety of room layout/options to accommodate your guests budgets and preferences. They have a nice, but simple complimentary breakfast in the mornings which was great. They have grills for barbecuing and hammocks for laying which is also cool. All of our guests raved about it and talked about how much they can't wait to come back and visit. Definitely recommend for a wedding and/or just a nice relaxing visit to the keys.

The Coconut Palm Inn is a lovely retreat in the Keys. It's actually located in Tavernier, a few miles from Key Largo.

It's in a good location and there are many restaurants nearby. It's about a couple of hours drive down to Key West (I didn't like Key West - it was just one big tourist trap!!).

We stayed for a week as we wanted to have a base to explore the Keys. The property is not new and modern - instead its quite old fashioned but that is part of the charm.

The room we had was quite small but very clean and it had a nice porch that you could sit in and watch the sunsets.

The grounds of the property are lovely - a nice beach with palm trees, hammocks and quiet corners to sit and read. There's also a couple of wooden walkways that lead out to the waters edge so that you can sit out and leave the outside world behind!!

It's a place more suited to couples who are looking for peace and quiet.

The only negative - and its just a small one - was that there could have been a wee bit more variety in the breakfasts. After a week the same muffins, banana bread, tea and coffee was a bit monotonous. However it wasn't a major issue.

So in summary, the Coconut Palm Inn is not the place to go to if you're looking for a party atmosphere - instead its for couples like us who like to relax on holiday.

Highly recommended.

We stayed 2 nights over Christmas at the Coconut Palm Inn and we wish it was more and are already planning our next visit. We were greeted warmly by Kathryn. We were so lucky to be upgraded to room #14 on the 2nd floor with great views of the bay and a balcony. Kathryn had great suggestions for where to eat and places to see. We actually had a suite with separate bedroom, kitchenette and living room all with a view of the bay. It was very clean. You step out your door to the sandy beach with coconut palms and hammocks, you feel like your in paradise. They have 2 docks and offer the use of the kayaks. We tried several of the restaurants suggested and they were all very good, great fresh fish at Snappers but what we liked the best was the Keys Fisheries and retail market, you can either order your food at a take out window and eat overlooking the marina at one of the outside tables or get it to go and eat on your balcony overlooking the bay which is what we opted for. Keys Fisheries has the best conch chowder we've ever tasted. DeeDee is also very nice and offered suggestions so we went to the Wild Bird Santuary and are so glad we did, they ask for a $5.00 donation and it is well worth it, great place to take pictures of birds. Kathryn and DeeDee were so nice and treated us like family. Did I mention the pool overlooking the bay? It's hard to leave the grounds as it is so relaxing and peaceful and there is so much to do right there. Also they offer coffee and juice and pastries out on the beach every morning. Also great sunsets from the balcony or the docks. We highly reccommend Coconut Palm Inn to get away from the hectic everyday life.

Room Tip: #14 is our favorite

What a surprise! Clean room leading out to an enclosed porch, then across a walkway onto the sandy beach with palm trees and hammocks, then another 40 feet to the water. Pool, chairs to watch the sunset, two long docks, continental breakfast under a tiki hut. Quiet (away from road noise) yet near shopping center and good restaurants.

Very special, and worth every cent (yet modest for the area).

Room Tip: Fit the room size to your party. All lead out to the beach.
