“Love this place”
Reviewed April 24, 2012

I go there often. It is a bit on the wild side which is very welcome here on Key Largo where most every space is managed or privately owned. You can actually get away from car noise there.

“Walking, exploring, and learning.”
Reviewed March 30, 2012

Fee is $2.50 per person, but you can stay in the park all day if you want. There are plenty of trails to explore, wildlife and birds. The trees are identified and you can spend all day just reading about the different kind of trees and trying to remember each one so you can identify it when you see it later.
The land was originally a planned community but it was stopped from further development. You can see the metal covers in the road where the electricity and phone lines would have gone.
We go every year to get in a nice walk and to explore the park. Go all the way to the end of the road to see the abandoned house.

“Wonderful walk through the Keys ecosystem”
Reviewed March 26, 2012

If you'd like to see nature reclaiming previously trashed lands, with vibrant birds, land snails, butterflies, lizards, and fish, this is a stop you should take time to enjoy. Plaques and signs guide you on your own nature walk, or you can take one of the scheduled tours. Either way, it's a great break from the crazy traffic and overly commercial and touristy parts of the Keys.

“Great Place for a walk”
Reviewed February 19, 2012

This park has well marked walking trails that provide an escape from the highway and area without even sidewalks. It was a refreshing escape from the activity along Highway 1.

“Disappointing Park”
Reviewed December 14, 2011

Decided to stop by this state park from the recommendation from the place we were staying at. She said it was a beautiful place to visit. My wife and my daughters were not impressed with the park. It was really hard trying to figure out what this park was all about. There were no maps for the trails and the signage was not very good explaining what there is here. We walked around the park, but really did not enjoy it. There was nothing really interesting to see here for us. It was basically a park with no people there to help you or ask questions. You just walk around and enjoy what you want to see. This place was hard to find. We drove right bye it the first time. The parking is a little strange too. There are a few places to park by the front of the entrance.
