We booked a king suite for two nights in july and loved Dove Creek. Don't hesitate. Informed at checkin we were upgraded to water view but I can't imagine any of the 19 rooms has a bad view, based on the setup. Room was spacious and well done; had small fridge and microwave, best of all a screened in porch outside the room so you could sit and enjoy the lovely view w/o bugs. Terrific room setup if you have a child along. Gardens were nice too, with hammocks and shady spots to read or relax. Breakfast is wonderful and everyone was very friendly. Food next door at Snapper's is great. They cheerfully cooked the fish we caught on a charter one night. We will be back. Only disappointment was you could not fish from the docks at the hotel. But we did a morning fishing charter with Blackfoot Charters (per the hotel's advice) and that was a big hit.

Although the resort provides yaks, we brought our own. Just north of the property is Dove Creek where we saw LOTs of fish and a sea turtle. Water was clear and running as the tide was rising. Try to go toward the end of the high tide so you don't have to go against it on the way back.
Our acceess control system did not work after the first night, so we were moved and given a credit of one night "for our trouble". The folks at the lodge were friendly and helpful.
The free breakfast was not a standard continental, it was better.
Snappers restaurant is a walk away, and Pennycamp is just up the road a few miles.

We stayed 2 nights here based on the ranking and previous reviews. We were underwhelmed to say the least. Our room was 403. First, try to find that on any sign. Luckily the front desk told us where it was, otherwise we would be completely clueless. The door to the room would not open or close without a stiff shoulder or yank. The closet is unusable since the safe and refridgerator are in there. The shower head needed to be replaced 10 years ago. The pool was 92 degrees. I realize its summer and florida but a little water from a hose might have made a difference. The walls are thin. We heard the couple next to us just talking. The grounds are nice and the bed was comfortable. Other then that its a very expensive motel 6. We stayed at the marriott key largo for 2 other nights and found it much better.

Dove creek lodge made our stay in the keys the most rememorable! It is a must! The staff is great, very pleasant. The rooms all have a view of the water and are very clean! The morining breakfast made it so special! I just didn't want to leave. I can't wait to go back!

We came upon this place by accident and are so glad we did! I'll admit I was a little skeptical about stopping in Key Largo on the way down to Key West to stay at a little lodge. After the one night there though, we were discussing how to put off the drive to Key West another night or two! It was so quiet and calm. The staff are very attentive and friendly. We will definetly plan another trip down here again and make sure we spend a little longer at this place!
