“Key Largo Seafarer”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

I was initially a bit disappointed when we checked in to the Seafarer a two day stay. The beach is small and was having a bit of maintenance. Our room was spacious, but had older mismatched, kind of shabby furnishings. I wondered what we would do for two days. But- the room was very clean, comfortable mattress, quality linens. The beach is small, but there are plenty of sitting areas. Nice landscaping. Free kayaking was great. The water is shallow and clear, so very safe for beginners. We walked twice to eat at Island Grill, excellent food. Also ate by the beach and enjoyed the tame squirrels. This is a laid back, low-key, relaxing resort. Not pretentious, not expensive. Staff was efficient. I was sorry to leave, and hope to come back.

Room Tip: Rooms closest to beach are best, but we were in 15 by office and it was fine. Traffic noise did not...

Admittedly furniture is something that has received low priority. It's eclectic, funky and we try to move out anything shabby.

On the flip side, the beach maintenance that you referred to is the sandy peninsula at the water's edge that was just completed.

We didn't even get a chance to rake the sand before guest's moved-in. :))

We hope you have a chance to visit us again and enjoy the improvements.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your comments.

We were here for one night and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The paddle board and kayak use was convenient and fun! The room was comfortable and convenient to continue our trip out to Key West from Miami. George at the front desk was very welcoming and fetched me some ice when I hurt my knee near the beach.Such a lovely time was had!

We were in one of the cabins by the water, and everything is very well kept, clean, and tidy. We didn't have a kitchen, but we did have a fridge and a microwave, which was super nice for keeping our beer cold. There is a small beach, clean and swim-able, which is not always the case. There are lots of hammocks, chairs, and loungers available for use. They are working very hard to help make this a bit of paradise.

There are coffee and snacks at the office in the mornings, which is nice with no coffee maker in the room. (They do provide instant and cups)

The sunset was wonderful, everyone was very friendly and helpful - I would stay here again, for sure.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your visit.

All our rooms (even the small ones) have a fridge and microwave.

The cottages with kitchens have coffee brewers, too. (you provide the coffee)

The rooms without kitchens, we provide a complimentary instant coffee/tea set up.

We also have coffee brewers and electric kettles upon request.

We just returned from six days at this establishment and loved it!! We had a great cottage and the staff was very friendly and helpful. As everyone else has said, this is a great place! Hammocks hanging between the palm trees, your own private beach and a great view of the most beautiful sunsets you will ever see. We would definitely plan a return trip.

My husband and I spent one night at the Seafarer. First thing if you are looking for a sandy beach you are not going to the Keys (we learned that too late).
We paid for one night $185 at the Seafarer and honestly it is in no way worth that price.
The rooms are really small, low ceiling, the mattress is terrible and it is just really more in the line of a motel/hostel rather then a hotel at that price.
The highlight was the sunset, but that is not really provided by the hotel. Overall, it would have been a better experience if we had been charged half the price. It is not worth the money they charge.

Not much to say that has not been said before. I came with my dad for a short getaway from Ohio weather. We booked it several days in advance and stayed in cabin 6. It is the closest to the water and the scenery was perfect! It's just perfect! Plan on brining the family back next year for a week.

If you are looking for the Ritz, drive on by. You can get that posh experience many places, but you can only get the old Florida experience of the Keys in a place like this. Many of these kind of places are now gone, so cherish it when you get it. Great little cottages right on the water, quiet, the right kind of amenities, and that old charm that is from a day gone by, We will be back!

Room Tip: Bring a Hair Dryer! Each Cottage or room is different, all are fun! As for the Fitness center - we...
