I can not say enough good things about Azul Del Mar. We stayed in the La Palma room and it was perfect. The little beach and dock is great if you want to stay away from the crowded state park ect. Everyone was helpful when we asked questions and even gave us recommendations on where to eat. Our room was clean and the grounds were well cared for. We saw the groundskeeper every day!
My husband and I have decided to book this place every year for our anniversary! We fell in love with Azul Del Mar! We spent most of our time just relaxing on the dock. There is only one thing I could say that would make it perfect and that is a toaster :-) Other than that I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone! If you want a place to relax and enjoy Key Largo go to Azul Del Mar!!!

We enjoyed our recent stay at Azule del Mar. We stayed in the least attractive room, Las Palmas and it was still large and nice enough to enjoy. What was best about the property though, were the sunsets from the chikee huts or the dock. After asking for a restaurant with a nice water view, we were redirected by the proprietor, Derrick to enjoy the view before dinner and eat after sunset.

Perfect idea. We either ate early and had drinks after on the deck, or had a bottle of wine before dinner.

Do be sure of the room you choose and then prepare to relax. WHile there is not pool, one can swim right out the back.

We took our kayaks (the location is not good for fishing if that is your desire), bu the are is delightful for exploring and getting trips anywhere is not difficult.

Room Tip: Read the reviews and choose your room.

Needed a place for one night on our way down to Key West so we were in and out and didn't stay long. Nice little hidden gem. The grounds are lovely and they have kayaks which you can rent by the hour. Very clean and well appointed. I would go back again.

Room Tip: when booking with a boutique hotel or bed and breakfast, don't assume you will get the room you...

My husband and I chose this property based on previous reviews and internet advertising on Trip Advisor's site, Tingo. The Caribe room is the only one that is directly opposite of the water with a patio and tropical view, but does provide a large bathroom with a shower/tub combo, comfortable king bed and overall was a quiet, relaxing stay for two days. The kitchenette is nicely appointed and they provide Aveda products for the bath.
The property waterfront itself is narrow with a short dock and man-made beach area to enter the bay for swimming. There are several grass-hut gazebos and tables to sit and relax while looking out over the bay. I'd like to see them add a hot tub on their grassy area.
The night we arrived, we were offered a reasonably priced sunset cruise, but were tired and declined. Several other couples did go and said they enjoyed it. Azul del Mar is quiet, has attractive grounds and a good choice for couples who are looking for a spot that is close to Key Largo attractions.

I would recommend this location, IF you select one of the rooms that look out over the bay since the pricing does not seem to be significantly different, yet the quality of your experience will be enhanced. When we stayed there in April, it was not full and wondered why they did not offer to upgrade us to a room with a view for the same price or a small increase. Why not 'show off' your place if there is vacancy? They also charge for the 2-3 kayaks they have on the premises and could not provide details when asked about boating/jet ski rentals.

We did some scouting around while in Key Largo and would definitely suggest you give Largo Lodge a look. Still secluded, quiet, but oh so much more appealing with their 3+ acres of cottage arrangements and beautiful grounds.

Room Tip: The room we chose is the only one that is directly opposite from the water and has no view. The entr...

Overall, the Azul del Mar was a great place to stay. We stayed in the Aquamarina room for two nights and then moved to the Royale room for the last two nights. It was somewhat shocking the difference in quality of the two rooms considering the price was the same. For the first two nights staying in Aquamarina, which is upstairs and has a tiny little bathroom, the $299/night price seemed extremely high - the place felt like a $200/night hotel. But the last two nights in Royale were different - it was a much larger suite and the bathroom was about three times the size of the bathroom in Aquamarina. For the same price. We did not find the woman at the front desk, Carissa, to be helpful at all when we asked for advice. For example, she didn't even know about places the hotel includes as recommendations in its book in each room. So although the accomodations themselves were very nice and comfortable, the general vibe of the place wasn't as welcoming as we would have liked. Still, given the location and the quality of the rooms, I'd gladly stay in Royale (but not Aquamarina - at least not at that price) again.

Room Tip: Stay in Royale. Try not to stay in Aquamarina.

We stayed at Azul del Mar towards the end of March for four nights. After a long day of travel, it was so nice to arrive at this tucked away place. We arrived after office hours, but our key and welcome letter was simply taped to the office door and we settled in on our own. Our suite was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the scent in the suite's air is absolutely refreshing. Even better is the outdoor property. There are the most gorgeous sea views from the tiki gazebos, or on the dock. You couldn't ask for a better sunset viewing. It's nice that you feel secluded because Azul del Mar has some grassy area and open space, but you don't feel too secluded and you can people watch the next-door fishers or scuba diving crews prep for a day on the water. Azul del mar is pretty much your place to relax or be active exactly how you want. I miss it already!

Wife and I stayed for two nights. Clean comfortable and spectacular views. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Make sure to take the sunset cruise with KC and if you are up for a little paddling try the kayak tour with him too.
