tucked away, but a great atmosphere and great place to see the sunset. We were out on the dock, saw a lobster walking by on the bottom of the bay. Green lights here under dock to watch the fish.

Snook's was on my list of places to visits having seen reviews (good and not so good).
We only found it on the last full day of our trip though we had driven past several times, the signage is not too clear, or it could be our eyes.
We stopped for a quick drink on the way back to our hotel late afternoon, we then quickly got showered and changed and back to Snook's where we had dinner and watched the sunset, which is in itself a bit of an occasion at Snook's.
Service was good, food was excellent, I had Hogfish, best meal of our trip, and the setting is just the very best.
I wish we had found it sooner.

Since Snook's reopened after its fire, the restaurant has enjoyed a mixed set of reviews from our local friends. They have a huge tiki bar... with management egos and prices to match. You can usually see a great sunset and hear live music there - but food is expensive, service is slow and the quality of the musical talent is mixed at best. It lacks the warmth and friendliness we pride ourselves on in the Keys. So go there for a drink and sunset, as many locals do.

If you walk south for another 100 yards and hit the Bayside Grill for the great same sunsets, more reasonable pricing, a chill menu and an increasingly impressive venue of musical talent. Sorry Snooks... would love to give you a good review, but would love even more for you to give me a good Keys experience.

We started our evening at the outdoor seating by ordering a nice bottle of wine but based on the house rools the waitress tried to serve it to us at first in plastic cups. After a short discussion she went to get real glasses and that was fine for us. The people sitting next to us, living at the keys, tried to do the same but could not manage as according to the waitress the real glasses were only a few as the house rule really was to serve in plastic cups.

Next we order our food, 39 USD seafood platters with scallops, lobster etc. The food was completely tasteless, there was water on the plates as if it was frozen food just quickly thrown on a frying pan without letting it melt properly. We kept eating though as we were really hungry but when getting to the lobster tail we decided we had enough as that had no taste either!! On top of the terrible food it was served on plastic plates. Seriously, what kind of a place serves their signature seafood dish on a plastic plate? I suppose one with no taste, neither when it comes to the food or how to serve it...

When we addressed the manager about the food and the plastic cups/plates he came to your table, took a look at our plates and said "but you're eating it", started laughing, walked away without listening to what we had to say and never came back. Our waitress was shocked to tears due to the managers behaviour and she really tried to compensate for what had justb happened. We took the check, asked the waitress to bring a plastic cup, poored the remaining quarter of our wine in the cup, sent it to the manager and walked away.

We are never going back there again and there are other nicer places at the keys to see the sunset from. The locals in the next table recommended for example http://www.moradabay.com/, we have not tried this yet but will perhaps do so tonight.

We were staying at the Bayside Inn next door and they told us we'd get a 10% discount so took a stroll down to the bar. Loved it! We stayed there all evening, sitting right on the waterfront and watching the sunset. Derek looked after us at the outside bar and was so helpful, service was excellent. Drinks were very reasonable priced and we enjoyed the menu too - I had a trio of sliders and husband had the lobster roll and both were great. Very nice mojito finished the night off before we headed back to our rooms. Perfect.
