“Pretty Sunset”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

Waterfront apartment with beautiful sunset view. Right by the pool. Unfortunately, you can't use the pool during scuba lessons. Big downfall with a child that wants to be in the water. How about sharing?

The room had what they said it had but having the micro, hot plate, and mini-fridge in the bedroom area did not inspire us to use them. Hubby said, I don't want to smell bacon and eggs when I go to sleep tonight.

The porch was wonderful. It is shared as noted in previous comments but there is a privacy wall extending beyond the round table and 4 chairs. So, not a problem.

Room was basic but clean. Housekeeping needs to sweep better or something during the week. Our daughter spilled a little cereal on the floor and it was there the remaining 5 days of our stay.

Air conditioning and ceiling fan in the sitting area but neither in the bedroom. No airflow if you close the bedroom doors. The office did send a table fan when we asked. Still too hot to keep the door closed. Cool enough with all going otherwise.

The office staff was very friendly and informative. At check-in they even told us where was a great place for lunch. And. it was.

We bar-b-qued a couple of the nights. So fun! Bring bug protectection as with most places on the beach the no see-ums will get you. Lizards around, we loved it. A large iguana came in near the pool one day. All cameras were flashing.

All in all, a pretty good place to stay. We had to cancel our diving with them as we are now on rebreathers and they don't allow them on their boats. There are other operations that do so, don't count this place out for a stay even if you dive elsewhere. The others in our group all felt there rooms were fine also.

The one thing that would have made our room so much better would to be to have a full oven and refrigerator in our room. I have Celiac's and being able to make more of my own meals would have made me ecstatic.

Room Tip: When driving in, hard to see the sign due to the tree growth of the establishment just prior. All...

I was down at Amy's 6/17-6/20, which was midweek. The resort is older, but I noticed our room had been recently painted and there were some renovations. We stayed in one of the "apartments" with one queen bed and 2 trundle style beds. We traveled with a married couple and 2 young men. The queen was in a separate bedroom. There was enough room and privacy for all 4 of us. This is not a 5 star luxury resort, but it's a spectacular dive resort. You can walk right out of your room to the boat/water. They have rentals available, dunk tanks to rinse and a place to store your gear very close to the boat. It's really nice not to have to carry tanks and gear from a parking lot far, far away.
We have been visiting this resort since the early 90's and obviously love coming back. The dive boat is great, the team on board is friendly and helpful. Because we were there in the middle of the week, it wasn't crowded and the prices very fair.

I recently stayed at Amoray for the 3rd or 4th time in the past 8 months. My first stay was in October of last year when I co-hosted a reunion event for 60+ people.
The resort is set in a beautiful tropical enviornment and the staff is more than accomodating.
Rooms are clean and semi up to date, but very nice. The sunset view from their beach is worth the money you pay to stay there alone.
There are 5 tiki bars within walking distance- 4 serve food and all serve GOOD food.
We enjoy it so much that we have already mae reservations for another stay in the near future.

We woke up at 10 am and wanted a quick swim before 11am checkout. THE POOL service had come to pour salt in POOL. I asked them is the POOL closed. The service said wait 30 min before SWIMMING. I went to the OFFICE to ask for a 30 more minute extension for checkout due to this delay. The OFFICE staff told me they had NO idea the POOL service was coming. (( I recommended for them to post a SIGN to warn other swimmers to keep out for 30 min)). I recommended to the Amoray maintenance crew to have the POOL service make a set time so it is KNOWN to all each day of the week. I am glad I was there to make a difference !!!

Room Tip: The ROOMS smell a bit Muggy. I recommend you to OPEN THE WINDOW wide before entering. BRING air fre...

This cute dive resort is very convenient for diving, with rooms clustered around the dock. And Amoray is a leader in participating in activities to improve diving, diver education, reef protection, and more. I am consistently impressed by the "good corporate citizen" behavior of Amoray. The boat ride is a bit long compared to operators at MM 100 area, and the facilitates are worn, and while the staff works hard to keep them clean and nice - this is a not a place that competes on room quality, soft beds, or such. For tired divers, it will not matter much. There seems to be a high turnover of boat crew, and that has meant that we never know who will be working on the boat - and have been surprised at the variation of competence and customer service that results. On the average - very good.

Room Tip: Rooms closest to the dock are also noisy. You can listen to the snores of your neighbors and partici...

We returned to the Keys for the first time in 40 years. With a late arrival we decided to stay at Amy's Amoray Dive Resort the first night. We got there just at sunset and what a beauty it was! Our room was basic but very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless with amazing water pressure in the shower. We took their recommendation and had dinner at The Fish House. It's crazy busy but the food was delicious and portions huge. Even the drinks were great - reasonable and powerful!
We got a better look around in the morning - so beautiful! And it smelled wonderful! The staff were all very nice. We saw the dive boat leaving - those people looked like they were going to have a fantastic time!
Breakfast was at their recommendation - The Hiddenout - a retro throwback next to the House Boatel. I would go back to Amy's in a heartbeat; it's a real gem!

Room Tip: They're all amazing!

This is a very late review, since it's 12 years old.
In June 2001 we went on honeymoon for 2 weeks in Florida and started at Amoray's.
Arriving after 8pm made us have a surprise since the reception was "closed".
An envelope with my name, key and instructions made me think i was back home at Alentejo, Portugal, were people leave their front doors open.
After this first "issue" we found the room, on the 1st floor of a cottage style house, spacious, well cleaned and as advertised, so no surprises there.
At the time Hobo's Restaurant was 1min walk away, and an excellent choice.
Next day the breakfast was served outdoors and the scuba course started, a 2 day's with ocean dive included.
Excellent diving teacher, a north sea deep diver, excellent conditions and equipment.
The resort website described it as it was, at the time 11years ago google was stiil in its infancy and reviews were taken from yahoo or frommers, so the stay was an excellent Florida honeymoon.
A must for divers, scuba or snorkeling, and for fishermen since there's a lot of offer for sports fishing.
Will return as soon as the little kids allow.

Room Tip: rooms near the gulf of mexico are quieter.
