Owner description: This half-mile-long, crescent-shaped patch reef is an interesting dive site since it is highly developed and similar to those of most outer bank reefs in the Key Largo area.

“Like an Aquarium Snorkeling”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

WOW! This site was unbelievably alive with all kinds of sea life. This is a protected area, where you can take NOTHING and that's why there are some seriously large lobsters to gape at while snorkeling.

“colorful fish”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

This is a great reef to snorkle or scuba. Alot of beautiful fish and brain coral. I saw my first baracuda here but he didn't bother anyone. My wife and both girls (11 and 14) had a great time.

“My favorite snorkel spot”
Reviewed July 17, 2012

We found the fish to be the most abundant and variety greatest here. We happened to pick a great day to go too. The fact that the water was pretty shallow in most spots made it easy for my family to get below the fish to get better photos. There were also lots of deeper spots and structurally unique coral for me to swim around.

“Not the best reef in Key Largo...like Greece, it is in trouble”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

We went to Grecian Rocks with Keys Divers on their 12"00 trip on 7/14/2012. Apparently it was low tide and that made it difficult to follow the reef (along with heavy swells from the high winds that day). The hard coral heads are, for the most part, pretty damaged. The soft corals were abundant. I really liked how the crew stressed not being in any position beyond swimming position or on your back to talk. Other companies should take note so that we can save these reefs. Still, the damage here is evident and my husband and I both feel that the reef should be closed for several years to help it come back. There were tons of snorkelers from several companies out there. Because of the tide and VERY shallow water, the area was even more condensed and crowded. The fish were wonderful, it seemed almost like a nursery reef with many smaller fish. No "big game" like sharks, rays or turtles. I see other reviews where they mention diving the reef and wonder how that is possible as it the areas we were in (both north and south sides on the land side of the reef because of the swells) were very shallow. We have been all over the caribbean and will not visit this site again because it was a bit depressing to us. Please, if you visit any of the reefs in the Florida Keys, remember that you need to stay clear of the reefs. If a reef is shallow, you can easily hit it with your fins if you are "upright". It takes decades for the damage to be undone!
