Hilton Key Largo Resort
Our Stay: Five nights 11/01/13 – 11/6/13
We first stayed at the Hilton Key Largo back when it was the Sheraton. And, we’ve been back for several visits since. True, the Hilton is a little worn in places but it’s still a great place to veg out for a few days or an entire week. We reserved a Grand Suite Corner room and ours was on the 4th floor. What a view of the bay, fantastic. We had a large living room, dining area, gigantic hot tub, two bathrooms, two HD TVs, lots of storage and a wraparound deck.
We arrived early, around one in the afternoon, (check-in is at four), and our room was not available. Now, when we spend big bucks for a Grande Suite, is it not asking too much to have the room ready ahead of time? The Hilton knew we were coming months ago and I even called them the day before to let them know. Anyway, all was not lost, we were able to change and relax by the pool until the room was ready. Waited until late afternoon when we went to the front desk and asked about the room, still not ready. There were other guests arriving and their room(s) were ready. When we asked why, the desk person said, “Well, they don’t have a suite”. Huh? The only thing I could think of is that it’s quicker to get a smaller room ready than a grand suite. As we hung out in the lobby, a manager came by and asked if everything was ok. Told him we expect a higher priority and consideration for early check-in when we spend big bucks for a suite. He agreed, and the suite was ready in about twenty minutes.
The room was in excellent condition; my wife needs the a/c temperature very low to help her breathing. When we called the front desk to ask if the temperature could be adjusted lower, maintenance came up in five minutes and made adjustments. Later, the front desk called us to check if everything was ok. It was. Housekeeping came every day and did an excellent job.
We relaxed by the pool area and those who have said that the pool area was not maintained, were talking through their hat. The pool and the grounds were immaculate. They were constantly, cleaning, removing any cans, bottles, used towels left behind. Love the cool mint towels that they came around with and also the ice cold pops to help cool us off.
One very minor problem; I don’t agree with the Hilton’s decision to close the family pool for a pool-side buffet for a wedding party. The people who were using the family pool had to use the adult pool until 12 noon. Not really a problem, but why couldn’t they set up a buffet where they had the outdoor wedding reception the day before? We enjoyed watching the kids but there were people who weren’t too happy; you could tell by their demeanor. We didn’t eat at their restaurant because we have our favorites, Mrs. Macs, Harriett’s and Chads, give them a try when you come down to Key Largo, you won’t be disappointed. As for the Hilton, next time we’re in Key Largo, we’ll definitely stay at the Hilton.

Room Tip: High Floor (4th floor) if view is important, South end of resort if you have trouble walking to the...

While this hotel is next to the water, most rooms do not have ocean views. We are Hilton Diamond members and should be given one of the better views. The hotel is 4 stories, we were given a room on the third floor. Unfortunately, the Hilton has allowed trees to grow to such a height that basically all you see is tree tops. If you stand up, you can see a tiny view of the ocean. I do understand 4th floor rooms have spectacular views. Hotel is somewhat dated and could use some refurbishment. The building itself is very long, we were instructed to park in a space near our room. While there are elevators, you must first go up a flight of steps to reach them which is not that easy carrying your luggage. The only ramps are near the front lobby. Breakfast buffet was ok, not great. I would not categorize this hotel as a resort. Rooms do not have good soundproofing, could hear lots of noise from people above us.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room on the 4th floor.

The wife and I finally get a couple of days to get away. We spring five hundred a night for a grand suite. We've been here 2 hours. First, the fridge is leaking all over the floor. Second, the music at the wedding below us is so loud we can't have a conversation on the couch with the doors closed. Went to front desk to complain and had to stand in line behind everyone else that came down to complain. Just cut up my hhonors card and will never be back. The thousands of points we had aren't worth it. Hope the wedding was profitable. The filthy tables and soaking wet carpet didn't help. Very disappointing to see a big hotel forsake all of its guests to cash in for an event. No more for us. We'll just take our losses and go. Sad...

After our "mini cruise" out of. Miami, we decided we wanted one more day so we rented a car and drove down to Key Largo. We reserved a water view room and it didn't disappoint!

We got there at 11:00'AM and our room was not ready.. No big deal, the staff checked us in and we promptly went to the pool and the beach. The pool was small but very tranquil with the sounds of the waterfall and the music making it even better

The folks at the front desk phoned us at 2:00 to let us know our room was ready.. WOW.. Older room but very clean and a $$million dollar view. We had some appetizers at the beach before dinner and spent some more time on the property.

I am a long Hilton Gold/diamond member and most definitely will return to this property.. It's absolutely a very relaxing atmosphere!

Room Tip: Get a waterfront room on the 4th floor.. You won't be disappointed.

This was my first trip to the keys... Not to be my last!! Loved the tranquil private beach and calm blue water. We had a fantastic view of the ocean from our room, staff was freindly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite. You will not be disappointed

Property is very worn and needs updating. The room furnishing pathetic. Service was good, perhaps slightly under staffed. Pool towels are tiny. Jim at the back pool was very good. Location is good. They just need to rehab the property or cut the price in half.

Ok, pick one: solitude, mottled sunlight filtering through the mangroves, napping on a chaise lounge with feet dangling in the water, curling up by the gently lapping water with a good book, cuddling on a hammock, cooling off in the bay. There's not a lot of pop and flash, but if you want a lazy day on a cozy, intimate, private beach, you'll enjoy yourself here.
