“Very good for location only!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2013

This property in my opinion is in a very nice setting, the trees around the hotel go right down to the beach and the sand is like sugar, not sure if that's natural for this location and that's why it gets a 4, but a 3.25 might be more realistic. But regardless a stay here for the unique beach is recommended and view of Florida Bay from a room on the west side is fantastic! The room (427) we had on a points stay had an exceptional view of Florida Bay and a great balcony, but my oh my was the room past it's prime. Although generally looking very clean the grime on the sliding doors to the balcony was disgusting, the AC shrieked (analog 1970's style thermostat), and there was a lot of wear and tear at almost every corner. We dropped a chip on the balcony and were immediately invaded by ants, but that's the tropics. The HHonors "free" breakfast was pretty dismal IMO, although the view from the "Trees" restaurant was very nice, but I would only give about a 2.5 rating to the breakfast based on what I've had at other Hilton properties, I usually have 80-90 stays a year at Hilton propeties, and have a better cold breakfast offering at a Hampton Suites! I would stay here again in a hopefully renovated room in the future. Suggest you book and ask for a renovated room on the west side facing Florida Bay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing Florida Bay are best, rooms on Hwy 1 are too noisy due to the road.

I can't say enough great things about this hotel! Starting by how friendly the front desk people are to the wonderful housekeeping staff. They met and exceeded all of our expectations. My husband and I were here for our anniversary and were thrilled with the superb treatment we received. The hotel is very clean and modern. The rooms are functional and very clean as well - spacious. The hotel beach is exquisite: white sand and pristine water. Easy access to the beach bar. Relaxing and so much fun. We took the Eco Boat tour. Very educational. Probably wouldn't recommend for younger kids. Would be boring for them. We had a rental car so we explored restaurants on the island. Only ate 1 meal at the hotel. Was pretty good though. Service was top notch. To sum it up: fantastic vacation and we will be back.

Myself and my partner stayed here for 1 night after a day trip to Key West on our way back to Miami. To be fair we didn't expect much as it was simply somewhere to rest up for the evening. We have stayed in many hmm.. random places throughout America (Wythville, VA with shooting and a trailer park next door and Winnemuca, NV with a brothel behind us for example). Anyway... this place was beautiful, so tranquil and peaceful. I cannot comment on the food/bar in the main hotel bar/restaurant as we brought our own drink and ordered room service. However, we checked in and were told that we could be up-graded with no further charges. The guy didn't tell us what we had been up-graded to just that we would like the room. So, off we went and entered our room and Oh my goodness.... it was gorgeous. We had been up-graded to a grand suite which had a dining table, kitchen area, living room, double bedroom, bathroom, dressing area, a Jacuzzi bath with wooden paneling which opened up over-looking the ocean and balcony with patio door which opened from the living room to the bedroom. I don't know what we had done that day to deserve that but it was fabulous. From our balcony we could look down over the private beach and pier and it was total relaxation. We went to the beach straight away for a swim and a drink from the tiki style bar and there was enough space for everybody there. We then went back up to our room and just sat out, watching the sun set enjoying a few drinks, listening to the singer/guitarist down on the beach below and watching the dolphins playing in the ocean. We ordered room service and the BBQ chicken pizza was big enough for us both and was very nice . Again, maybe our experience wouldn't have been the same if it had not have been for the room upgrade. However, this really helped to make our holiday and next time we are in Florida we are heading straight there and going to price up a grand suite for our stay as I don't think anything else would compare. If we had been there longer we would have tried the on-site watersports (snorkelling and Jet Ski) :-D Thank you so much to the kind guy on check in :-D

Room Tip: go for the grand suite :)

This property is amazing from the outstanding breakfast buffet, private bay beach with the convenience of a tieki bar, property has water sports and activities right there, and the convenience of having a bar on the property open until 11:00p.m.

We stayed at this Hilton as an I've night stay on our way down to Key West and it was quite what we expected but was ok for an overnight stay. We arrived and parked up, which there are plenty of places to park however a charge of 14 USD is added to your bill for parking. The reception desk is easy to find and checkin was quick and easy, nice gentlemen helped although little guidance on the hotels facilities. The room was really disappointing, firstly it had a damp smell and all night we heard this humming only to work out it was the fridge in the room. The aircon was noisy but worked. The carpet looked dirty and needed a good clean although the room looked as though it had recently be fitted. The furniture was old and tired and worn, the sofa sagged in the middle and not something you would sit on. The bathroom was cramped, a basic bath and shower head with a curtain and no windows. There was no extraction fan so it got it damp in the bathroom after a shower. The sink area was basic and had a dividing wall between that and the bedroom but it didn't go all the way to the ceiling. There was no mini bar in the room either and the normal hilton TV channels. The best part of the room was it had a balcony that opened up on to the beach with a sea view however many rooms would look at the car park. We didn't use the gym but looked well equipped and the beach was sandy but small with some wooden walk ways through the trees. We ate in the Restuarant in the evening, which was basic, no frills however the food was very nice and our waitress was very good. Breakfast was very different, food was cold, service was poor and not that much of a spread, small amounts and it really looked like it was bought from the local supermarket. Check out was quick and easy so overall I would rate it as average because it really wasn't an expensive stay so you do not expect a high class from this hotel.

Room Tip: Go for high floor and sea view

Great resort. Once we checked in, we immediately decided to extend our stay another night. Loved the location, beach area, pool area, restaurant. Easy access to other restaurants in the area. Wonderful break after being in Miami. Just one complaint - musty, damp odor in rooms. BUT, we would definitely recommend this. We were two couples - in our 70's.

The staff and views at this property was great. BUT, the room we where in was full of Mold. Making it very hard for my 80 year old mother and I to sleep. So if you have problems with mold don’t stay here. It may have been just the room we was in. It would be sad to think you went on vacation and could not enjoy the beautiful water and the great activities they provide if you get sick form the mold.
