Owner description: Morning Star Charters has been in the chartering business for the 32 years in the upper Keys doing oceanside reef snorkels and sunset sails, is now proudly part of the Key Lime Sailing Club family! Capt. Rick has handed down his family business to Paul and Key Lime Sailing Club’s great staff of captains. Laid back, easy going, fun, sailing, snorkeling charters in Key Largo, for those that seek the best. Sailing, snorkeling on our 50' sailing yacht, Morning Star offers charters for two to six persons. Enjoy the beautiful waters of Key Largo in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. We are the longest existing sail, snorkel charter in the Florida Keys. Morning Star DOES NOT use the reefs that the snorkel boats go to. We have been going the extra miles to the best reefs for years. We want our customers to see the best, not the worst that Key Largo has to offer. Yes, we have seen the reports on some on line bulletin boards about "skip Key Largo when it comes to snorkeling". These are written by people who opted for the typical cheap cattle boat trips and have been taken to shallow, abused, small patch reefs with murky water. We want you to know there are reefs off Key Largo that rival the best in the world! Morning Star will take you to Molasses Reef, Pickles Reef, and reefs "off the beaten path" that are teeming with sea life, beautiful corals, in crystal clear waters! And when it comes to sailing, YES! We will sail as much as possible, it's a major part of what we do! In a greedy world where quantity has replaced quality we want you to know that old time values and pride in ownership still exist with Morning Star Charters.

My wife and I had a fantastic snorkeling and sailing experience with Capt Rick. We were scheduled to go on Thursday but he advised us to wait for better conditions on Friday. We are glad we waited. We had a beautiful hour long sail out to Molasses Reef, where the conditions were pretty good with about a 2 foot chop. Water visibility was 50 feet. We jumped in and were instantly amazed by the clouds of fish swarming around the boat.we very happily paddled, floated, and dove for a solid 90 minutes. We saw hundreds of beautiful fish in dozens of species, including a small nurse shark. Then we had another very relaxing hour long sail back to dock. This is NOT your typical Pennecamp cattle boat loaded down with 50 people. Capt Rick will NOT take your money up front and then either cancel or go out in poor conditions. He really wants you to have a great experience, and we did!

I have used the services of Capitain Rick a couple of times and I have enjoyed every one of my trips. His knowledge of the water and the weather conditions are exceptional and the fun is guaranteed. We had our wedding on his boat and this is something we will never forget with a fantastic sunset and magnificient private ceremony. Champagne was on the house and Captain Rick was as friendly as a party of ten friiends. I went back recently with our daughters and they appreciated the said ride as much as we did. The price is right and Captain Rick brings you to the best spots to snorkel the wonders of the reefs. We'll do it again!!!!!

We were going to go on another charter and it was canceled. My wife found Rick's charter at the last minute. What a fortunate turn of events. Great trip. There were 6 of us. We had a great time.
Rick is just the right amount of friendly. He let's you have a great time but watches out for the kids and adults and steps in only when something's unsafe. He's not uptight about his ship. We brought some of our own snorkeling gear but he has some as well. Tells you just what you need to know. Doesn't rush you. He's casual and very good.

We have gone out snorkeling on the Morning Star twice with Captain Rick; once in 2012 and once in 2010. The experiences were different due to different weather conditions, but both trips were lots of fun. In 2010 we went in February so the water was a bit chilly and the water a bit choppy due to some wind, which made for great sailing but a more difficult experience snorkeling. In 2012 we went in summer, the water was nice and warm, and there was no wind - so Capt Rick had to rely on the motor more, but the water was crystal clear - it was like snorkeling in an aquarium. The reef was amazing; we saw lots of beautiful fish and coral. Capt Rick is a great guy, fun to talk to and knowledgeable about the area. We will definitely go back when we visit the Keys again and I would highly recommend Capt Rick and the Morning Star.

Like no other in Key Largo! While some others advertise thier sailing and then run thier motors the whole way, Captain Rick sails the entire way if he can. Took the two of us out to a secluded reef for a private snorkel. We were the only ones that booked for the day so we got a private charter for the regular price. Some people have been in the business for so long and it shows. It becomes just a routine. Capt Rick was friendly, talkative and very knowledgable. 29 years in Largo does that I guess. Going back next month for sure
