“Fun, Rustic Experience”

Like other reviewers have said, if you like adventure and you are not persnicketty, you will have a good time. We stayed in the Stress Relief boat and it had plenty of room and the beds were comfortable. We ate most of our meals on the deck overlooking the water, and used the barbeque to cook amazing fish from the Fish House, just caught that morning by local fishermen! The weather was a bit windy, but the kayaks are readily available and the location is great. I would definitely stay again. If you are unsteady on your feet, you may not like the planks that you walk over to enter the boat. And if insects bother you, you may not care for the few little ants we shared the kitchen with. Just take out the trash each evening as George suggests and keep the counters clean! We also rented boat #2 for our older daughter and her husband and two young kids and it was pretty small, so I would always choose Stress Relief for the space, view, and ammenities, even if only 2 or three of us were staying. It has a full kitchen, laundry facilities, two large couches, a dining table inside and on the deck, a big screen TV, desk area, and more. Sure, it tilts a bit. Sure, the ceiling tiles aren't perfect. It was clean and comfortable and provided everything we needed to enjoy Key Largo. If you like camping, you'll probably love it. If you love staying at the Four Seasons, you might hate it. We love camping AND the Four Seasons, and we found the Boatel a wonderful adventure!!! Thank you, George!

My two friends and I wanted to go for a weekend get-a-way without breaking the bank. The Key Largo House Boatel was perfect! This is how you should experience the Keys, because the true key west life style is laid back and on the water! You get it all. The house boats are dock bound, but rock ever so gently with the tide. Waking up to the sunrise is awesome! Sunsets on the decks of these boats are wonderful too. Like being in your own world! The owner is VERY accomdating and the kayaks are free. John Pennecamp State park is right next door. And did I mention, it doesn't break the bank? We can't wait to return again! Thank you, George Alfano for a wonderful experience! See you soon!

My two adult children and I were looking for a vacation with a traditional Keys flavor. Staying on the water in a boat was that unique experience. Took photos of the sunrise from our personal deck. This was a great location in Key Largo near Pennekamp Park, free kayaks, and the owner helped to launch us and give instructions on where to go from the dock. The boat, for the most part, had the basics plus air conditioning and cable. In a good location, who needs extreme luxury if you are gone most of the day snorkeling, sight seeing, shopping, and eating. If the wind kicks up at night, you get your money's worth on a Keys boat experience.

We were in Key Largo for 2 nights. The first property's review will be posted for sure. We checked out of it at 11, the check-out time and made our way to our lodging for the second night to make sure we knew where it was. George was here, (he is the proprietor) and said, "Go check it out, the key is in the door". We asked when we could check in and he said "you are in". Awesome because we had food that we needed to get into a cooler or fridge. We made our way up the narrow staircase and found a very clean room. There was a fridge, microwave, toaster oven and a couple of cups and spoons with the coffee maker. The only linens in the room were the bath towels. There was a bar of soap and a bottle of hair conditioner. We checked the drains and there was NO hair as someone else posted. The sliding glass door led out to a nice deck with comfy chairs and divan with a coffee table. We enjoyed our cocktails and snacks out there. There is a small beach that I was itching to get out in the sun on.... Nice, but needs some chairs inside so you can watch tv while you eat, if you choose to eat in, and a better way of locking the sliding glass door. All in all a quaint idea and I would stay again!

Room Tip: Nice beach, with a grill you can use to cook dinner....

Had such a great time last march with our kids we decided to treat ourselves with a second Key Largo visit for christmas and new years. We booked the same boat (4) and were surprised to find it had been moved to an even better position on largo sound. We had a unobstructed view from our deck of the sound and were rocked to sleep each night. George's boats are perfect if u want to b able to cook meals and save money to spend on other key activities. For under a hundred a night you have a kitchen full bath and plenty of sleeping space as well as tv and wifi. The boats are House boats they are not the ritz or Hilton nor do they cost as much but they are clean and serviceable. Any problems that arise George is available and ready to make things right. Our first night we discovered the hot water wasn't very hot, since we arrived late we waited till morning to tell George he came over immediately determind the part needed for the hot water tank. And when we came back in the afternoon we had hot water a plenty actually to hot, one call to George and the thermostat was adjusted. The Boatel is perfectly located as a home base to experience all of the Keys and return to each evening. We always meet the nicest neighbors and share ideas for fun keys activities. The Boatel is a little community unto itself, it's relaxed, easygoing, island experience.

Stayed at the Boatel 11/2 for the weekend, it was awesome, if your looking for a 5 star, then you need to stay at a Ritz Carlton or Peninsula hotel. Had a great time with my wife, daughter and our dog, good customer service as well as great restaurant at the Hidenout, i would definately do it again.

This is our second stay here in two years. We live in O'Fallon Il.,(St. Louis , Mo.), and this is a great place to relax . George the owner, goes out of his way to make sure you have the best stay possible. Gary , his right hand man, is always on site and always help full as well. We use the free kayaks to paddle over to John Pennekamp and go through the mangroves by water. I suggest this, great experience. The Hideout Restaurant is a bonus for breakfast right across the parking lot as well. Overall, we will always stay with George every time we come to Key Largo. Looking forward to seeing you again next year! Thanks George and Gary!

Room Tip: South East Boatels get the morning sunrise. Priceless!
