“Pleasantly surprised and pleased with the Ramada Inn, Key Largo”
Reviewed April 28, 2007

We stayed at the Ramada Inn for 3 nights. We went to Key Largo to go scuba diving and found out that the Ramada has a deal with Rainbow Reef diving company, which made our stay much cheaper. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice the Ramada was and found out it had been recently renovated. We had a nice view of the marina, overlooking the pool. The pool was pretty small, but Ramada Inn guests are allowed to use the Holiday Inn pool, which has a tiki bar and the pools are much bigger (one has a waterfall). The Holiday Inn is a two minute walk across the parking lot. A continental breakfast was included (the usual fruit, bagels, cereal, muffins, etc.) We stayed in a king room, marina view, room 286. The only two negatives: the balcony light comes on automatically and cannot be turned off—an ugly fluorescent light; in addition the air conditioner is LOUD. Other than that, we had no complaints.

  • Liked — Convenience, value, location
  • Disliked — Loud AC, balcony light that wouldn't turn off

If this is your first trip to the Florida Keys, know this: the winter-season prices are very high for what you will get. There are many other, more exotic destinations where you can pay $200-300/night and have nicer beaches, plusher accomodations, and maybe a lilting accent. Key Largo, especially is not all that attractive. However, it is a good place for SCUBA as there are many dive operators in town. We stayed two nights there for that reason. One night was at the Holiday Inn, the other at the Ramada next door. Of the two, the Ramada was a bit nicer and the walk-in rate they quoted me ($200 for a view room in Feb.) was quite a bit lower than the Holiday Inn at $240. BTW, unless you're strapped (and if you are, why are you traveling?) why not pay the $20-30 extra for the view? It usually makes all the difference. In this case the difference is that you can either look out at a parking lot/highway or a swimming pool/canal with boats and pelicans.
Food: You'll see a fun-looking Coconuts restaurant/bar on the canal. Drink there if you want but eat elsewhere. The food is lousy but my daughter and I enjoyed watching the older folks dancing to the karaoke DJ. We called it 'senior citizen spring break'. Down the road at Cafe Largo, we had a very good chicken picatta with nicely al dente pasta, and a great lunch at Key Largo Coffeehouse.

We booked at the Ramada Key Largo for Mar. 5-7 due to the reviews as well as the price at the time. Our cost $99.00 per night non marina view.

Upon check in I asked if we could get bumped up to a Marina view for I did not want to be facing US1. It would have cost 50.00 more per night- we found it not to be worth it - so front clerk put us at the side of the hotel. 3rd floor. for the same 99.00

Great Call- you don't face US1 yet you get a good view of the main channel and incredible sunrises.
The room was very spacious the bed comfortable we had a king
funiture was good quality and new.
The bathroon was all new as well with marble counter top.

We had a very slow bath tub drain which I made front desk aware of - it was fixed with in a 1/2 hr.

We had covered parking for the bike - the breakfast was very good with lots of variety - I used their muffin cardboard trays- I filled them with coffee, bagels etc. and we ate on our balcony
Very nice!

Their pool is clean and quiet but if you want more action go to the Holiday Inn pool and TiKi bar .
The hotel lobby is open concept very nice with lots of windows.
every thing you need is around this hotel.

The hotel is very clean - in fact I have nothing but good things to say about the Ramada and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again

I don't expect too much from a Ramada Limited, but this hotel was a really nice surprise. It's set in gardens overlooking a marina and a Holiday Inn (under same ownership). A glass-bottomed boat goes from the marina out to Molasses Key.

We paid an extra $20 for a room with a marina view. It was a good-sized room with a balcony overlooking the pool, too. Standard rooms face US-1 and could suffer from traffic noise.

The furnishings and the decor were of high standard. Indeed, the only thing "limited" about the hotel was that it had no restaurant, but there's a good one in the Holiday Inn next door.

The breakfast room is much too small. When I mentioned this to the desk clerk he told me "No, it isn't because not everyone comes down to breakfast at the same time". Had he looked to his right, he could have seen lots of guests milling around waiting for a table.

But I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.

My family of four stayed here for several nights so we could book a fishing trip and do some other Key Largo activities.

This hotel needs some updating, but I think the Holiday Inn next door ( which is a sister property) is older. We got this room for $89 via Priceline, which included a room with a king bed and queen size sofa sleeper. When we were there, a cold front came through most of Florida and our room was chilly. I had called twice for more blankets and pillows for my teens, which never arrived. Their log book at the front desk claims to have sent these things to our room, but I think the person who delivered them sent them to another room.

I called the front desk the next morning and spoke to a manager, who apologized and offered us a free breakfast for four at the Holiday Inn's cafe next door. I have to hand it to him ( Miguel); at least he made good for it and I was pleased to see that someone actually cared if the hotel guest was happy or not.

The pool was heated and the hot tub was HOTTTT...dont stay in it too long...holy cow! My husband and teens soaked in it while I did some laundry in the parking garage area. There is a sand beach with a tiki hut behind the pool which overlooks the marina...very nice. Across the lagoon is Coconuts, where we ate one night for dinner ( okay...but nothing great)

If you need to do any shopping for toiletries, there is a KMART nearby, as well as Walgreens, CVS, etc. If you want to catch a movie, there is a theater in Tavernier which is about a ten minute drive south of the hotel on your right hand side. Also, there are Winn Dixie's and Publix as well.

All in all....a good stay at a good price... I saw people checking in paying $199 a night...and I won't even tell you how many dumps we saw in Key Largo that claimed to be hotels and motels. I wouldn't let my dog stay at any of them much less my family!!!!!!!!

Stay at the Ramada Limited..you will be pleased.

Used this hotel in Key Largo as our base while visiting the Keys and Everglades. Although we did not opt for additional $40.00 per night for marina/canal view, our room offered great views of the yachts on part of the canal and even the Atlantic on the horizon. Rooms were clean and spacious enough. Ammenities average, staff avaerage as well. Complementry breakfast typical but coffee was above average. Given the location and that it was Super Bowl week, this was not a bad deal and would check it out again for similar vacation plans.

Very good hotel with view over the marina. Very pleasant stay for 4 nights. We appreciate the view on the pool and boats and the quiet situation despite the US1.
We advise to pay the supplement to a room on the back side of the hotel.
The breakfast is free of charge but he place is to small . Should be adapted.
Good situation and large room. Very good meteo.
A place to be...
