We went to pennekamp park with Reef Roamer and just had the best day of our vacation. The reef was beautiful and alive and covered with fish. We had an exceptionally calm day and it the water was crytal clear and warm. The boat was just perfect we had plenty of room to spread out and lay on the trampolines in front and catch some rays while we sailed home. The crew was definiately all about customer service, they seemed to really care if we had a good time and were very professional but really entertaining. We even had a lady captain, captain Jen,who , although looked all of 21, just handled the boat perfectly and just earned my respect from the second we stepped foot on board. The mate was wonderful with my children and even led a conga line on the way home. The boat had sirius radio and played great music all afternoon. This trip really made our entire vacation. My daughter has even decided that wants to be a captain just like Jen when she gets older. Definitely, go see these guys if you want to snorkel in Key Largo.

Ditto to the previous reviewer.
Had a great afternoon with Reef Roamer.
Good variety of fish and an enormous Brain Coral with adjacent Porkupine fish being a highlight.
Our second snorkel session was cut a bit short by a big storm looming, but nevertheless this outing made our trip to Key Largo.

Returned to John Pennekamp for 4th time and thought I'd finally write a review of what the park offers which I have taken advantage of. The beaches are probably the best in the upper keys, one of which is well sheltered from the open sea which is great for kids. The scuba tours are only OK. We were on a 2 dive trip obe of which was the Christ statue. There was a limited number of fish and I have had better dives in Key West at places like Upper Sambos. The staff on the boat seemed to be a little non-talkative and seemed only interested in getting from point A to point B. No personality. The staff at the dive shop were friendly and witty.

This is a great place for glass bottom boat tours of the coral reef, snorkeling and hiking the trails. Large park, also has a decent aquarium included in the entrance/parking price of $6.00. There are also beaches, but visitors should note that the beaches in the Keys are small, rocky and murky, much different than the rest of FL sandy beaches. Definitely a great place to visit for your activities in the Keys.

We took the 2.5 hr glassbottom boat tour and frankly speaking I am still love with her :-) It meanders through mangroves first 15 minutes and then you see the green sea with small islands! The view is spellbounding. The boat races through moderate speed and you can see the snapper, jelly fishes and other ocean species. We infact got a look of shark in the wild! Then the boat speeds up and stops 7 miles inside the ocean for more vivid commentry. We loved this trip and still I remember every second of it. Go for it.
