We stopped in and learned about the ecosystem in the aquarium, and walked on the beach. They have many activities you can do, glass bottom boats, etc. Was very well maintained and informational staff.

Allow more time if you want to do the activities, but to look around and walk the beach, a couple of hours is fine. Plenty of parking the day we went

We took the trip on the glass bottom boat, and my family loved it. Our two year old, and even the eight month old, enjoyed watching the reef pass by under the boat. There were plenty of fish and the reef was beautiful. The rides out and back to the reef each take 45 minutes. The pilot house was open for visits on the way back.

The crew was very kind and the boat was super clean.

When we bought our tickets we were warned of 4-5 foot waves. We were warned before we got on the boat, and then after boarding. People were encouraged to take medication for motion sickness if they thought they may need it. Folks did not take the warnings, and about 3/4 of the passengers spent half the trip vomiting on the sun deck. We had no problems, but if you may....take medication! Some folks looked so miserable. The crew could not have been kinder to the sickly passengers.

We arrived at the John Pennekamp State Park at 11:00AM for the 12:15PM glass bottom boat tour, but there were no more seats left. So, arrive early. We decided to stay for the 3:15PM tour and in the meantime rented Kayaks. The Kayak trip is easy and fun, and you don't get very wet. There are many routes for different skill levels. We took one of the "easy" ones. The route is not well marked, but you can figure it our with the help of the plastic map they give you.

The glass bottom boat is a large catamaran named Sprit of Pennekamp. It is in great shape and everything looks new. The trip out is through mangroves. It takes about 45 minutes to get to the coral reef. Being a catamaran, the boat has two "bottoms", one in each pontoon. Passengers arrange themselves around the pontoons and the captain maneuvers the boat so that people on both sides get to see the same sights. The boat can move sideways and back to keep the sights in view.

The sea was choppy the day we went (3 to 5 foot waves). Even with the seasickness pills, a lot of people had to go up to the top deck after a few minutes.

There are other glass bottom boats in the Florida Keys, but the ones at Pennekamp are the most reasonably priced.

we stayed here overnight and they have repaved and added full hookups to a lot of the sites. sites are pretty tight if you have a larger rig.lots to do but the beaches are a little rocky and being a state park they don't clean seaweed off the beach. overall good place to stay.

Went to rent kayaks, and the trip was easy and decent money. We took the intermediate route, and it was fun for all of us.
