“Good food and location”

Good food and good location, not plush, but what was expected. We dined outside upstairs and it was a nice cool evening. The only negative was the smoke rising from down stairs.

“Good fish but otherwise over rated”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2014

Fish and chips is a good place to start with a "seafood pub" and it sums up Sharkey's pretty well. The mahimahi was fresh, succulent, flavorful and well prepared; the "chips" were a frozen, industrial "food service product" affair. So the guys in the kitchen are churning out some amazingly good fresh fish, served with the cheapest frozen side dishes they can find. The restaurant is an indoor-outdoor, upstairs-downstairs affair and most of the action is in the loud and grubby but wonderfully air conditioned bar. I started out downstairs, and as others have noted the service is excruciatingly slow - so much so that I gave up hope of ever speaking with a server after 20 minutes and relocated to the little diner-like counter upstairs. Very typical Keys atmosphere, which is to say it looks like it has survived a few hurricanes, some carrying furnishings out and others blowing all manner of flotsam in. Other than the slow and poorly trained service, it wasn't a bad experience - it just wasn't a particularly good one. Many better options exist in Key Largo.

“Good Friday Night Fish....”

They have an all you can eat fish for approx. $12.95. The place is pretty busy but we were seated in about 15 minutes. Ample parking lot.

“Best Fish Taco”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

I had my first fish taco here many years ago and I compare every taco to this day to Sharkey's. Every time I come or am near the area, this is a must stop. The atmosphere is great, the drinks are great and the food is amazing. I might have ordered one other item off the menu because I come here for the fish tacos.

It is right next to a scuba shop so after a day of diving, one does not have to go far to a nice meal and drink. It is in a great location too off the US 1. A great hidden treasure.

“Excellent”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2014

Stayed at the Marina Del Mar for a few days and went to Sharkeys for late lunch one day. The place doesnt look like much but they sure can cook. Best meal I had while staying in the keys for two weeks. Blackened Mahi Baja fish tacos. Huge portion. A must try if you are in key largo. Great selection of beer also.
