We drove from Miami to Cioppino for a late lunch. The Ritz charges a $12 parking fee for non-hotel guests even with parking validation from the restaurant. Call me cheap, but this attempt at faux exclusivity really is a turn-off and contributes to the "average" rating. The dining room itself was totally emply and the wait staff seemed somewhat disinterested in our presence. We ordered the Prosciutto Cotto which had Parma Prosciutto Ham, Rustico Bread, Boschetto, and lettuce and tomato as well as the Panino di Pollo which came with Grilled chicken, applewood Smoked Bacon, served on Ciabatta with cheese. Both meals came with a
choice of green salad or french fries. The two selections were fresh, hot and filling. We waited for the check for over 10 minutes, finally having to flag someone down on their way out of the restaurant. They also add an 18% tip, which while not unusual in South Florida, is again not my preference, especially for such lackluster service. Perhaps we had caught them on an off day, but it was the typical "Ritz" experience.
